Procedures for 4/16/13

Procedure for HS 1P Chinese III (4/16/13)

目标: 1) I can create a story from a picture.  3) I can polish and sharpen my listening skill through listening to audio files.  3) I can read text passage fluently.

功课:Round robin reading (pages 62-63): Monday, 4/22/13.

程序:

  1. 1) Captains check WB page 58.  Go over answer key.  2) Quick review (性别, 个性, 随和, 幽默, 幽默感, 奇怪, 胖, 瘦, 挺, 塌, 比, 比较, 高, 矮, 像, 长). 3) Go over terms (叔叔 ó 伯伯, 好久不见, 那么, 为什么, 觉得).  Read text passages on pages 62-63.
  2. 1) Listening activity.  2) Group activity: create a story from up to 2 pictures.  4 sentences / 8 points for each one.  Be prepared to turn in one copy of group work in pinyin

Procedure:

1.   1) Quick review (脸, 长 ó 短, 朋友, 鼻子, 耳朵, 嘴巴, 头, 头发, 眉毛, 眼睛).  2) Captains check culture reading homework assignment.  Go over answer key.

2.   Presentation.

Objectives: 1) I can talk about myself in Chinese.  2) I can brainstorm ideas for my art project.  3) I can acquire cultural knowledge about Chinese zodiac animals.  4) I can explore tangram pieces game.

Homework: Quiz #3: tomorrow, 4/18/13.

Procedure:

  1. 1) Teach new terms (sheng ri, nian, yue, ri) + sentence pattern.  2) Write sentence #5.  3) Read sentences #1-#5.  Collect.
  2. 1) Culture reading: Chinese Zodiac Animals.  2) DVD: Chinese Zodiac Animals.
  3. Showcase art project samples (PPT).

功课: 1) Chinese character writing assignment.  2) WB page 58 (#1-#8).

程序:

  1. 1) Sit on your new seat, please.  2) Free ethnic performances (free for K-12 students) from China at Cleveland State University, 6:30-8:00 pm on Saturday, 4/27/13.  Talk to Ms. Chang for details.  3) Captains check WB page 59.  Go over answer key.  4) Finish up enrichment reading.
  2. 1) Teach new characters (性, 性别, 男性, 女性, 个性, 随, 随和, 随意, 幽默, 幽默感, 感人).  2) Simple conversation questions Q/A.
  3. Final class time: write your pen pal letter + Ms. Chang translates your letters.

功课: 1) Draft / finalize your sentences.  Work in Red Lab on next Thursday, 4/18/13.  2) WB page 59.

程序:

  1. 1) Draw a number for your 4Q seat.  Return your slip to Ms. Chang.  2) Simple conversation questions Q/A.  3) Teach sentence patterns (…adjective + 多了, …adjective + 一点儿).  4) Go over WB p. 59 problems.  5) Pass out reading handout.  Independent work.  Go over answer key.
  2. Write your pen pal letter / Ms. Chang translates your letter.

Objectives: 1) I can create an avatar for myself.  2) I can write sentences to describe my body parts.

Homework: Know ten characters by next Monday.

Procedure:

1.   Go to www.voki.com to create your own account first by clicking “Get Voki” on right hand-side of the screen.  Use school e-mail account, please.   Log in to your e-mail to activate it.  Log onto www.voki.com to create your avatar and save your creation under your account.  Write down your user name and password to log in next time.  < no need to make recording and upload your audio file today >

2.   Type sentences about your 10 body parts.  Turn in your copy at the end of the class period.

3.   Draw a number for your 4Q seat.  Write down your name on the slip and give it to Ms. Chang.

2.   1) Try writing 4 sentences about comparison / answering simple conversation questions.  2) Write your pen pal letter + Ms. Chang translates your pen pal letter.

Objectives: 1) I can name and describe different body parts.  2) I can gain cultural knowledge about Chinese table etiquette / differences between Chinese and western food.  3) I can brainstorm ideas for my Voki creation.

Homework: 1) Chinese character writing assignment.  2) Exit slip.  3) Work on Media Center Lab 1 to complete your Voki project on Thursday, 4/18/13.  4) Ten sentences of body parts description is due at the end of class period on Thursday, 4/11/13.

Procedure:

  1. 1) Quick review (头, 头发, 眉毛, 眼睛).  2) Captains check exit slip.  Go over answer key.  3) Teach new terms (鼻, 鼻子, 耳, 朵, 嘴, 巴).  4) Showcase Voki sample work.

Homework: 1) Practice reading sentences 1-2.  2) Art project due on Tuesday, 4/23.  Oral presentation starts on Wednesday, 4/24/13.

  1. 1) Return papers, flash drive, and pen pal letters.  2) Announcement: Confucius Institute at Cleveland State University sponsor Summer Bridge program (7/20-7/25), summer immersion camp (6/17-7/19, 9:00-3:30/daily, $150/week), speech contest (我爱我家) and writing contest (我爱我家).  Please see Ms. Chang for details.  3) Ms. Chang is not available tomorrow afternoon due to a staff meeting.  4) Makeup test—video project (哈瑞宁, 史玖丹).
