Procedure for MS Chinese I 1P/2P/8P (8/28/13)


Objectives: 1) I can discriminate / blend Chinese pinyin syllables.  2) I can review/write simple Chinese characters.  3) I can gain cultural and geographical knowledge about China and its special administrative regions.

Homework: 1) Chinese character writing assignment.  2) Review learned syllables.


1.      1) Return new China reading packet homework.  2) Collect old China reading packet homework work + new China reading packet (2P: Patricia; 8P: Sean).  3) Invitation e-mail to parents was sent out yesterday.  Missing parent’s e-mail address: (2P: Cameron, Patricia).  Incorrect e-mail address: (1P: Lexi; 2P: James).  4) (8P) Show Ms. Chang’s daily blog.  5) (1P + 8P) Go over fire drill procedure.  First fire drill: 2 pm today.

2.      1) (1P + 2P) Dictation (bpmf handout).  2) (8P) Pass out square paper + table of 8 picture characters + stroke order handout.   Review/Teach characters (sun, moon).  3) Introduce one website (pinyin table, http://www.quickmandarin.com/chinesepinyintable/pinyintable_vertical.php).  4) (8P) Finish up p section (bpmf handout).

3.      1) DVD: General Information about China / Hong Kong / Aomen.  2) Review (SARs—definition, nickname, Chinese and English pronunciations).





Procedure for MS 3P/5P Exploratory Chinese (8/28/13)


Objectives: 1) I can say simple greeting terms. 2) I can acquire historical, geographical and cultural knowledge about China.  3) I can write simple Chinese characters.

Homework: 1) Review 15 learned terms.  2) Chinese character writing assignment.


1.      1) Quick review (10 terms + 3 characters).  2) Signature slip (5P: Evan, Shane)?  3) (5P) Show Ms. Chang’s daily blog.  4) Go over fire drill procedure.

2.      1) Teach new terms (Xie Xie, Bu Xie, Bu Ke Qi, Wu An, Wan An).  2) (3P) Class activity: practice (xie xie, bu xie or bu ke qi).  3) Teach Chinese characters (people / person, tree, mouth).

3.      DVD: Introduction to China / Beijing.
