Procedure for MS Chinese I 1P / 2P / 8P (10/15/13)

 

Objectives: 1) I can say simple greeting terms.  2) I can introduce myself.  3) I can discriminate / blend vowels and consonants.

Homework: 1) Chinese character writing assignment.  2) Review learned syllables (ou, uo).

Procedure:

1.      1) Opening routine.  Introduce Linsanity movie event.  Makeup work (2P: McKenna + Lexi; 2P: Marco + Patricia / Jake (character worksheet & oral part) + Taylor / Caroline / Yui / Natalia (oral part); 8P: Rosa, Logan, Troy, Emily, Ian).  Captains check character definitions.  Return chapter test papers / character worksheet.  2) Introduce Lesson Two structure.  3) Teach new characters (, , , ).

2.      1) Dictation (ai, ao, ei, ie) sections.  2) Go over (ou, uo) sections.

Objectives: 1) I can say simple Chinese greeting terms.  2) I can write simple Chinese characters.  3) I can gain cultural knowledge about Chinese characters.

Homework: 1) Review learned 18 terms.  2) Chinese character writing assignment.  Due tomorrow.

Procedure:

1.      1) Quick review (14 terms + 5 Chinese characters).  2) Class activity: practice (xie xie, bu xie or bu ke qi).

2.      1) Teach new terms (qi li, jing li, zuo xia, qing zuo).  2) Teach Chinese characters (mouth, water, fire).

3.      1) Video clips: (mouth) / Chongqing.  2) Culture reading: pages 4-6. 3) Show & tell: Chinese publications + seals.

Procedure for MS Chinese I 1P / 2P / 8P (10/14/13)

 

Objectives: 1) I can showcase my mastery of numbers.  2) I can say and sight read math equations fluently and accurately.

Homework: 1) Lesson Two character worksheet definitions (textbook page 12).  2) Finish speaking / sight reading part of your chapter test by Wednesday.  3) Quiz #7 (compound vowels 1): Monday, 10/21/13.

Procedure:

1.      1) Opening routine.  Collect Lesson Three character worksheet.  (2P: Jake, Patricia, Marco) talk to Ms. Chang, please.  2) Pass out Lesson Two character worksheet.  3) Chapter test.

2.      1) Practice reading sentences / flash cards.  2) (2P) Start sight reading / speaking part at E/I today.  Ms. Chang will be at study hall at 6A/6B to work with 8P students tomorrow.  1P students will work with Ms. Chang before HR from tomorrow.  Any one is welcome to take it before or after school.  Complete it before the end of Wednesday.

1.     1) (3P) Return China reading packet.  7 Gold field trip tomorrow.  2) Quick review (9 terms + 2 characters).

Procedure:

1.      1) (HR) Collect dress down day donation.  Opening routine.  Makeup work (1P: Sara; 2P: Taylor, James, Evy, Jamie, Yui, Marco, Natalia; 8P: Grace, Sydney, Stephanie, Tina, Ryan, Jonathan).  (2P) Patrick + (8P) (Luke, Rosa, Maddy, Jenna, Paxton, Emily, Rianna, Paul, Sean, Ian) return, sign and get your new textbook.  2) Go over answer key to WB 21.  3) Culture reading: pages 16 + 22.  4) Listening + Reading + Writing practice.

1.     1) Any signature slip?  (5P) Return China reading packet.  Makeup work (3P: Wilson, Tifany; 5P: Kyle).  2) Quick review (Ni Hao, Ni Shi, Wo Shi, Zai Jian).  3) Teach new terms (Lao Shi, Zao, Zao An, Ni Zao, Zao Shang Hao).

2.     1) Pass out / go over square paper & table of 8 picture characters.  2) Teach simple Chinese picture characters (sun, moon).  3) Video clip: caveman (moon).

Procedure:

1.      1) Ms. Chang checks your WB page 20 (#7-#12).  2) Volunteers needed for quiz #6 ó Go to I drive, click Ms. Chang’s folder, click Ni Hao games, click 3rd edition, click Ni Hao 1 games, log in with your name as user name and any key input as password, and click Lesson Three to activate the game.  There are six games (characters, expressions, memory, construction, mahjong, quick pick).  Click any one that you want to try.
