Procedure for MS Chinese I 1P / 2P / 8P (10/22/13)


Objectives: 1) I can gain knowledge about Chinese Shaolin Temple, Shaolin Monks and wu bu quan martial arts from viewing video clips.  2) I can utilize a website tool to type Chinese pinyin and Chinese characters.  3) I can learn to make a kite and a dragonfly Chinese knot through viewing video clips.  4) I can enjoy watching video clips about Chinese abacus.

Homework: 1) Review learned Chinese characters and learned front nasal syllables.  2) A worksheet about Shaolin Temple and Shaolin Monks will pass out next week for grade.


1.      1) Return Quiz #7 papers.  Makeup work (1P: McKenna; 2P: Marco; 8P:Sarah).  Please use the typing instructions handout from yesterday to type pinyin and Chinese characters.  You can share your document with Ms. Chang or turn in a hard copy.  Collect as participation grade.  2) Please click the following link to learn to make a kite.  Please google pictures that you want to draw on the surface of your kite on this Thursday.  You cannot print out and paste the picture on your kite, but you trace the pattern, draw, and color your picture.

Procedure for MS Exploratory Chinese 3P/5P (10/22/13)


Objectives: 1) I can say / write numbers in Chinese.  2) I can gain cultural and historical knowledge about Chinese calligraphy.  3) I can have hands-on experience exploring Chinese folk art of paper cutting.

Homework: Review greeting terms handout for quiz #1 on 10/23/13.


1.      1) Makeup work (3P: Nathan, Alana, Hannah).  Quick review (4 number characters).  2) Teach new characters (5, 6, 7, 8).

2.      1) Video clips: Chinese calligraphy.  Showcase xuan paper, ink stone, ink stick, and brush pen.  2) Work on paper-cut patterns.
