Procedures for 11/11/13

Procedure for MS Chinese I 1P / 2P / 8P (11/11/13)

 

Objectives: 1) I can blend / discriminate consonants and vowels.  2) I can identify, welcome and invite people to come in.  3) I can ask about and state ages.  4) I can apply what I learn to create and perform a skit with a partner.

Homework: 1) Review learned syllables.  2) Practice conversation questions.  3) Chinese character writing assignment.  4) The string wrapped around your bee and all frame taped to your picture by this Friday.

Procedure:

1.      1) Opening routine.  Any field trip permission slip (1P: Emma; 2P: Patricia, Shann, Jake; 8P: Bryan)?  Please make sure your name is on your kite.  Quick review (, 谢谢, 请进, , 马克, 欢迎).  2) Q/A session.  3) Take turns reading text passages on pages 23-24.  4) Writing practice.

2.      1) Teach new characters (, , , , 今天, 明年, ).  2) Go over back nasal sounds handout (iong, weng) sections.  3) Class time: draft your skit draft.  .

 

 

Procedure for MS Exploratory Chinese 3P/5P (11/11/13)

 

Objectives: 1) I can talk / write about myself in Chinese.  2) I can say colors in Chinese.  3) I can understand the importance of learning Chinese language.

Homework: 1) Art project due tomorrow.  2) Oral presentation starts on Wednesday, 11/13/14.  Bring in your work to do for the next three days.

Procedure:

1.      1) Quick review (hong se, huang se, hei se, bai se, lan se, lv se, zi se, zong se).  2) Teach (cheng se, fen hong se, hui se).  3) Read sentences #1-#10.

2.      1) Video: Chinese program in American schools.  2) Introduce Chinese class rosters.  3) Sample tea.

Objectives: 1) I can blend / discriminate consonants and vowels.  2) I can identify people, welcome and invite people into the house.  3) I can ask and answer simple questions in Chinese.  4) I can apply what I learn to create and perform a skit with a partner.  5) I can design and create a kite.

Homework: 1) Review learned syllables.  2) Practice reading text passages.  3) Draft your skit.  4) Practice conversation questions.  5) Complete your kite (string w/bee plate) by Monday, 11/11/13.

Procedure:

1.      1) Opening routine.  Return exit slip.  Any field trip permission slip?  Makeup work (1P: Emma—worksheet + talk to Ms. Chang, please, Sara: exit slip + quiz + definitions + WB pages 11-13; 2P: Jake + Patricia—exit slip + definitions; 8P: Katie + Miles; Emily: definitions + oral exam).  Quick review (, , , , , , , , ).  2) Take turns reading text passages on pages 23-24.  Q/A session.

2.      1) Go over back nasal sounds handout (uang, iang) sections.  2) Pass out / go over Lessons 2-6 Conversation Questions handout.  3) (2P) Chanting time.

3.      Class work: 1) Label your bee.  Split a spool of string with a partner.  Tie your bee with half spool of the string.  2) Draft your skit.

Objectives: 1) I can gain cultural knowledge about Chinese tea.  2) I can talk / write about myself in Chinese.  3) I can say colors in Chinese.  4) I can brainstorm ideas for my art project.

Homework: 1) Practice reading sentences #1-#10. 2) Art project due: Tuesday, 11/12/13.  Oral presentation starts on Wednesday, 11/13.

Procedure:

1.      1) Return draft #2.  Quick review (hong se, huang se, hei se, bai se).  2) Teach (lan se, lv se, zi se, zong se).  3) Read sentences #1-#10.

2.      1) Culture reading: Chinese Tea.  2) Video clip: Chinese tea.  Showcase tea sets.  3) Showcase more art project samples (crafts + video + singing, etc).

Homework: 1) Review learned syllables.  2) Chinese character writing assignment.  3) Brainstorm idea for your skit.  4) Exit slip due at the end of the class.

Procedure:

1.      1) Opening routine.  (8P) Return quiz #8 papers.  Makeup test / work (1P: Emma, Sara, Marissa; 2P: Natalia, James, Taylor, Yui, Abigail, Cameron, Patricia; 8P: Paxton, Logan): 2) Pass out / Go over field trip permission slip.  Check your e-mail for menus.  3) For those who scored under 38.4 out of 48 (written section only) or 43.2 out of 54 (with oral exam added), please take retake application form and return by Thrusday.  Captains check Lesson Four character worksheet definitions.

Homework: 1) Lesson Four character definitions.  Due tomorrow.  2) Turned in your marked dowel with your name on it by the end of class period today.

Procedure:

1.      1) Opening routine.  (1P / 2P) Return Quiz #8 papers.  Turn in your Lesson Two character worksheet.  Pass out Lesson Four character worksheet & field trip permission slip.

2.      1) Lesson Two chapter test.  2) Sight read sentences to Ms. Chang.  ó Mark on a stick your preferred lengths of your frame + Complete your kite picture.

Homework: 1) Study for your Lesson Two chapter test.  2) Turn in your Lesson Two character worksheet on Monday, 11/4/13.

Procedure:

1.      1) (HR) Report to Ms. Chang during E/I first and then go down to auditorium for D.C. trip meeting.  Today is the last day to send in student fee.  Makeup work (1P: Marissa; 2P: Michael; 8P: Rosa).

2.      1) Go over front nasal sound handout (ün, un) sections.  2) Captains check WB pages 11-12.  Go over answer key.  3) Read text pages 13-15.  4) Class work: WB pages 9 / 13.  Go over answer key.

1.      1) Makeup quiz (5P: Sami).  Review English date format.  2) Teach (sheng ri, nian, yue, ri, de).  3) Teach Chinese date format.  4) Write sentence #5.  3) Read sentences #1-#5.  Collect draft #1.

2.      Origami time.  Check for grade.
