Procedure for MS Chinese I 1P (1/10/14)

 

Objectives: 1) I can introduce myself and my family members.  2) I can review for my midterm.

Homework: 1) Chinese character writing assignment.  2) Practice reading text passages.  3) Study for your  midterm.

Procedure:

1.      1) Opening routine.  7P E/I today for any retake.  2) Next Monday midterm part I: writing + listening (statements).  3) Please write down your name if you have Honors Physical Science, and/or Algebra and Geometry on next Wednesday and Thursday.  Pleas also sign up Chinese Club meeting at 6P on 1/16/14, if interested.

2.      1) Quick review (, 医生, , ).  2) Teach new characters (, , 学士, 护士, , 工人, ).  3) Read text passages: pages 43-46.  4) Writing activity: Family paragraph assignment.

 

Procedure for MS 2P / 8P (1/10/14)

 

Objectives: 1) I can prepare for my midterm.  2) I can ask and answer simple conversation questions.

Homework: Study!!

Procedure:

1.      1) Students are randomly drawn for oral exam.  Makeup work (2P: Grant; 8P: Bryan, Ian).  2) (8P) Pass out vocabulary bank list, by the way if you need a reliable bank to help you you can check it on CC Bank for more info.

Objectives: 1) I can gain cultural knowledge about Chinese silk, Chinese embroidery, and the meaning of Chinese colors.  2) I can name colors in Chinese.  3) I can talk about myself in Chinese.  4) I can explore tangram pieces game.

Homework: 1) Practice oral presentation.  2) Complete your art project.

Procedure:

1.      1) Quick review.  Quiz #4.  2) Read 10 sentences.  3) Turn in flash cards / any unnecessary handouts.

2.      1) Culture reading: Chinese colors.  2) Video clips: Chinese embroidery + Chinese silk.  3) Class activity: Tangram pieces game.

1.      1) Turn in your 2014 New Year’s Resolutions worksheet.  Students are randomly drawn for oral exam.  2) Pass out word bank list for writing problems.  Study for your oral exam + study guide.

Objectives: 1) I can gain cultural knowledge about Chinese New Year, Chinese zodiac animals, and giant pandas.  2) I can talk about myself in Chinese.  3) I can name colors in Chinese.  3) I can utilize a website tool to type Chinese characters and/or pinyin.

Homework: 1) Practice reading your oral presentation sentences.  2) Complete your art project.

Procedure:

1.      1) Quick review (11 colors).  2) Read oral presentation sentences.  3) Introduce a website utility to type Chinese characters and pinyin.

2.      1) Culture reading: Chinese zodiac animals + the legend of giant pandas.  2) Video clip: Chinese New Year.  3) Showcase artifact: red envelope.

Procedure for MS Chinese I 1P / 2P / 8P (1/8/14)

 

Objectives: 1) I can introduce myself and my family members.  2) I can review for my midterm exam.

Homework: 1) Chinese character writing assignment.  2) New Year Resolutions worksheet due tomorrow.

Procedure:

1.      1) Opening routine.  5P E/I today.  Midterm moves to Monday (1/13/14) and Tuesday (1/14/14).  1P : work in Lab 2 tomorrow; 2P: work in Lab 2 tomorrow and Friday; 8P: work in Lab 2 tomorrow and Lab 1 on Friday.  Take advantage of 6P E/I tomorrow and 7P E/I on Friday to complete all retake.  6P tomorrow reserved for 2P students and 6P on Friday for 8P students to complete all oral exam.  Quick review (爸爸, 妈妈, 哥哥, 弟弟, 姐姐, 妹妹, , ó没有, , , ).  Makeup work—family picture.  2) Pass out / go over 2014 New Year Resolution worksheet.  3) Teach new characters (, 医生, , ).

2.      Pair activity: practice conversation questions.

Objectives: 1) I can name colors in Chinese.  2) I can talk about myself in Chinese.  3) I can gain cultural knowledge about 6 popular sports in China, and lunch time in China.

Homework: Quiz #4: Friday, 1/10/14.

Procedure:

1.      1) Make work (3P: Holly—draft #2; 5P: Tyler—quiz #3).  Quick review (11 colors).  Practice reading oral presentation 10 sentences.  2) (5P) Complete your finger guessing tournament.

2.      Culture reading: 6 Popular Sports in China / Lunchtime in China.
