Procedures for 3/7/14

Procedure for MS Chinese I 1P / 2P / 8P (3/7/14)

 

Objectives: 1) I can talk about my nationality, language skill and birthday day.  2) I can read text passages fluently.  3) I can sight read Chinese characters proficiently.  4) I can ask and answer simple conversation questions.  5) I can gain cultural knowledge about Chinese idiom expression.

Homework: 1) Search pictures for your nationality, language skills and birthday slides.  2) Lesson Nine character definitions.

Procedure:

  1. 1) Opening routine.  Return paragraph draft.  Pass out Lesson Nine character worksheet / text passages slip / .  Makeup work (2P: Shaan, Jake; 8P: Katie, David, Maddy, Emily, Sean).  Captains check WB page 54.  Go over answer key.  2) Read text passages on pages 66-69.  3) Writing practice.  4) Go over conversation questions handout #9.  Practice + modeling.
  2. 1) (1P + 2P) Timed character recognition.  2) Video: 马虎 + 马马虎虎.

 

Procedure for MS Exploratory Chinese 3P/5P (3/7/14)

 

Objectives: 1) I can write simple Chinese picture characters.  2) I can say simple Chinese greeting terms.  3) I can understand the development of Chinese characters through viewing a video clip.

Homework: 1) Review learned greeting terms.  2) Chinese character writing assignment.

Procedure:

1.     1) Any signature slip?  It is due today.  Return China reading packet.  Makeup work (3P: Mark, Carlos; 5P: Renee, Johanna, Alajnia —China reading packet).  2) Quick review (Ni Hao, Ni Shi, Wo Shi, Lao Shi).  3) Teach new terms (Zai Jian, Zao, Zao An, Ni Zao, Zao Shang Hao).

2.     1) Pass out / go over square paper & table of 8 picture characters.  2) Teach simple Chinese picture characters (mountain).  3) Video clip: caveman (mountain).

Objectives: 1) I can talk and write about my nationality, birthday, and language skill.  2) I can sight read Chinese characters proficiently.  3) I can read text passages fluently.  4) I can sing Chinese songs.  5) I can ask and answer simple conversation questions.

Homework: WB page 54.

Procedure:

Objectives: 1) I can gain geographical, historical and political knowledge about China and major cities in China.  2) I can say simple Chinese greeting terms.  3) I can gain cultural knowledge about routines in Chinese elementary schools.

Homework: 1) Review learned greeting terms.  2) Quiz #1: Monday, 3/17/14.

Procedure:

1.     1) Any signature slip?  (3P) One signature slip without clear signature?? Collect China reading packet.  2) Complete the Introduction to Hanyu Pinyin handout.  3) Teach greeting terms (Ni Hao, Ni Shi, Wo Shi, Zai Jian).

2.     1) Culture reading: China.  2) Video clip: Chinese Schools.

Objectives: 1) I can gain geographical, historical and political knowledge about China.  2) I can learn basic Pinyin system.

Homework: China reading packet due tomorrow.

Procedure:

1.      1) Any signature slip?  Tornado drill will be at the beginning of 3P.  Review the procedure.  2) Pass out and go over Introduction to Chinese Pinyin handout.

2.     1) Video clip: Beijing + Shanghai.  2) Pair / independent class work time: China reading packet.  Turn it in if you are done with it.

1.      1) Any signature slip?  Pass out / Go over Ms. Chang’s classroom rules / grading policy.  2) Pass out and go over China reading packet.
