Procedure for MS Chinese I 1P / 2P / 8P (4/14/14)

 

Objectives: 1) I can name sports terms and body parts.  2) I can sharpen my speaking and listening skills through conversation practice.

Homework: 1) Chinese character writing assignment.  2) WB pages 63 / 66.  3) Lesson Ten chapter test: Friday, 4/25/14.

Procedure:

  1. 1) Opening routine.  Makeup work (8P: Emily).  Quick review.  2) Teach new characters (头, 发, 头发, 脸, 长, 短).  3) Writing practice.  4) (1P/8P) Read text passages on page 85.
  2. 1) Go over supplementary sports handout / spinning wheel activity.  2) Pass out / go over Lesson Ten conversation questions handout.  3) Group activity w/captains: Conversation practice.

 

 

 

 

Procedure for MS Exploratory Chinese 3P/5P (4/14/14)

 

Objectives: 1) I can talk about myself.  2) I can gain cultural knowledge about Chinese early invention—gun powder / printing / compass and paper.  3) I can brainstorm ideas for my art project through viewing sample work.

Homework: 1) Complete your art project by 4/23.  2) Practice reading your oral presentation.

Procedure:

  1. 1) Return draft #2 + quiz #4.  Makeup work (3P: Carlos; 5P: Jamar, David (*2), Aaron, Hanna, Kerry, Sam, Alajnia, Allie–origami).  2) Read sentences #1-#10.  3) (3P) Complete origami product #2.
  2. 1) Video clips: Chinese printing / paper / (3P) gun powder / (3P) compass.  2) Showcase Sample art project work (sports video + singing videos + pictures).

Objectives: 1) I can name body parts in Chinese.  2) (8P) I can name popular sports and my daily sports schedule.  3) I can practice my semester oral exam.  4) I can sing Chinese songs and say Chinese tongue twisters.

Homework: 1) Review learned Chinese characters.  2) Chinese character writing assignment.

Procedure:

  1. 1) Opening routine.  Quick review.  2) Teach new characters (鼻子, 嘴巴, 下巴, 朋友, 好朋友, 老朋友, 小朋友, 男朋友, 女朋友).
  2. 1) (8P) Go over supplementary sports terms + Spinning wheel activity.  2) Song time + Tongue Twisters: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=X8VVB2Y2YWI.  3) Conversation modeling.  4) (1P / 2P) Movie ping pong video clip.

Objectives: 1) I can showcase my mastery of colors.  2) I can talk about my preferences of animals, colors, and sports.  3) I can name sports in Chinese.  4) I can have hands-on experience making folding paper.  5) (5P) I can brain storm ideas for my art project through viewing sample work.

Homework: N/A

Procedure:

  1. 1) Quick review (11 colors).  2) Quiz #4.
  2. 1) Pass out / go over supplementary sports handout.  2) Teach terms (xi huan, zui).  3) Write sentences #8-10.  Read sentences #6-10.  Collect.
  3. 1) Complete origami product #2 (gift box).  2) (5P) Showcase sample art project work (video, craft).

Objectives: 1) I can name body parts in Chinese.  2) I can review grammar and sentence patterns for semester exam.  3) I can sharpen my speaking fluency and listening comprehension skill through conversation practice.  4) I can sight read Chinese character with accuracy and proficiency.  5) I can sing Chinese songs.

Homework: Review learned Chinese characters.

Procedure:

  1. 1) Opening routine.  Captains checks grammar review worksheet.  Makeup work (2P: Natalia—test + worksheet; Jake—definitions + worksheet + WB; 8P: Emily—worksheet + WB + test; Logan / Grant–worksheet).  2) Quick review.  Go over key to the grammar review worksheet.
  2. 1) Pair activity: conversation practice.  2) Character recognition (lessons 2-9).  3) Song time.

Objectives: 1) I can name colors in Chinese.  2) I can name popular animals in Chinese.  3) I can gain cultural knowledge about Chinese martial arts and Chinese yo-yo.

Procedure:

  1. 1) Quick review (11 colors).  2) Pass out / go over animal handout.
  2. 1) Video clips: Chinese martial arts / Chinese yo-yo.  2) 3) Showcase Chinese yo-yo + hacky sack.

Procedure:

  1. 1) Opening routine.  Captains check Lesson Ten character definitions.  Return chapter test papers + character worksheet.  Makeup work (2P: Shannon + Natalia—test + worksheet; Jake—definitions + worksheet + WB; 8P: Sean + Emily—worksheet + WB + test; Logan / Grant / Stephanie–worksheet).  2) Go over common writing mistakes.  3) Overview of Lesson Ten + 4th quarter Student Learning Objectives.
  2. 1) Teach characters (眼睛, 眉, 眉毛, 耳朵).  2) Pass out / go over Grammar Review worksheet.  Pair activity: class work.

Procedure:

  1. 1) Quick review (hong se, huang se, hei se, bai se, lan se, lv se, zi se, zong se).  2) Teach new terms (cheng se, hui se, fen hong se).  3) Complete origami product #1.
  2. 1) Video clip: Chinese zodiac animals.  2) Culture reading: Chinese zodiac animals + (3P) the Legend of Giant Pandas.

Homework: Lesson Ten character definitions.

Procedure:

  1. 1) Opening routine.  2) Collect Lesson Nine character worksheet.  Pass out Lesson Ten character worksheet, text passages slip, and supplementary sports handout.  3) (2P) Anyone will miss Chinese class on this Friday morning due to Rube Goldberg competition at HS?  (8P) Alex/Rosa return WB?
  2. 1) Lesson Nine chapter test.  2) Work on your Lesson Ten character definitions.  3) If time allows, practice Lesson Nine conversation questions with a partner.

1.   1) Opening routine.  Fire drill at 8:45am today.  (HR) Pass out report cards.  Makeup work (2P: Shannon *2 + Jamie; 8P: Katie, Grant, Emily).  (2P) Draw a number for your new seat, please.  (8P) Skit presentation (Miles, David, Katie; Emily) + Captains check WB page 56.  Go over answer key to WB page 56.  2) Quick review.  Read text passages.  (1P/2P) Captains check WB page 62.  Go over answer key.  (8P) Complete WB page 62 in class and go over answer key.  Go over Lesson Nine chapter test study guide.  3) Listening activity: WB pages 57 / 60 + writing exercise.  Go over answer key.
