Procedure for MS Chinese I 1P / 2P / 8P (5/30/14)

 

Objectives: 1) I can present my skit with a partner.  2) I can present my year-end PowerPoint presentation.  3) (1P/2P) I can gain cultural knowledge about breakfast around the world and Chinese dumplings.

Homework: 1) Practice your PPT presentation, if you have not done so today.  2) All textbooks have to be returned on/before Tuesday, 6/3/14.    .

Procedure:

1.      1) Opening routine.  (HR) Dress down money?  Any textbook to return?  Check ProgressBook for accuracy.  Return skit work.  Revisit Lesson Eleven chapter test + semester exam papers.  Chinese Club food due (2P: Abigail, Natalia, Evy; 8P: Sean, Jenna, Maddy, Sydney).  Chinese Yo-Yo / Chinese Club meeting survey?  2) Skit presentation (2P: Evy / Caroline, Jamie; 8P: Rosa, Grant, Alex, Stephanie, Katie / Maddy, Miles / Paxton).  3) PPT presentation.  5) (1P / 2P) PPT presentation (Breakfast around the World / Sticky Rice Dumplings.

Objectives: 1) I can showcase my mastery of colors in Chinese.  2) I can apply what I have learned to create an art project.

Homework: Practice reading sentences #1-#10.  Oral presentation starts from Monday, 6/2/14.

Procedure:

1.      1) Quick review (11 colors).  Go through your Chinese folder / binder.  Collect flash cards, handouts, and culture reading articles.  2) Quiz #4.

2.      1) Ms. Chang checks your art project ó students’ silent work. 2) Presentation, if interested.  3) Game time: Tangram piece game (day 1) + puzzles.

Objectives: 1) I can present my skit with a partner.  2) I can review my semester exam grade.

Homework: Practice your PPT presentation.  It starts from tomorrow.

Procedure:

  1. 1) Opening routine.  Make sure you download eText before you return your textbook.  Make sure you also download eWORK.  You can find summer assignments on HS portal page in summer.  Chinese Club food due?  2) You will be dismissed at 12:30 p.m. on Thursday, June 5.  3) 8th graders will visit HS on Wednesday, June 4th.  8th period teachers will escort their class up to the main lobby of the HS at 2:10 right after attendance.  4) 8P students PPT presentation starts from E/I and 8P tomorrow, Monday and Tuesday.    
  2. 2) Skit presentation.  3) Return Lesson Eleven chapter test and character worksheet.  Share / discuss your semester exam grade.

Objectives: 1) I can talk about myself in Chinese.  2) I can gain cultural knowledge about Chinese zodiac animals, the legend of giant pandas and Terra cotta Warriors.  3) (3P) I can play rock-scissors-cloth game in Chinese version.

Homework: 1) Bring in your silent work tomorrow, next Monday and Tuesday.  2) Quiz #4 & art project due on tomorrow.

Procedure:

  1. 1) Return draft #2.  Quick review (11 colors).  Makeup work (5P: Gabby, Mitch).  2) Jennifer Jesser’s singing art project.  3) Practice reading sentences #1-#10.
  2. 1) Culture reading: Chinese zodiac animals + (5P) the Legend of Giant Pandas.  2) Video clip: (3P) Terra Cotta Warriors / (5P) Chinese zodiac animals.  3) (3P) Game time: Rock-scissors-cloth final tournament.

Homework: 1) Review learned color terms.  Quiz #4: Friday, 5/30/14.  2) Art project due: Friday, 5/30/14.  Oral presentation starts on Monday, 6/2/14, and Tuesday, 6/3/14.

Procedure:

1.      1) Return quiz #3 papers.  Makeup work (3P: Maddy; 5P: Mario, Anna, Marina, Mitch, Zach, Kaitlyn, David, Jimmy, Michael, Gabby).  Quick review (8 colors). 2) Teach (cheng se, hui se, fen hong se).

2.      1) Pass out / go over sports supplementary handout.  2) Video clips: Chinese martial arts + Chinese yo-yo.  Showcase Chinese yo-yo and hacky sack.
