Procedures for 5/13/14

Procedure for MS Chinese I 1P / 2P / 8P (5/13/14)

 

Objectives: 1) I can express my preferences of food and drink, and my skills in cooking and holding chopsticks.  2) I can ask and answer simple conversation questions.  3) I can read text passages fluently.  4) I can assess my Chinese proficiency after eight months’ Chinese study.

Homework: 1) Food preferences + skills writing assignment due tomorrow.  2) Study for quiz on Thursday.  3) I Can Statements due tomorrow.

Procedure:

  1. 1) Opening routine.  Asian Festival (5-17-6/18 in E. 30th Street and Payne Avenue).  Pass out semester exam study guide, supplementary handouts, I-Can statements, & character recognition sheet.  (1P) Quick review.  (2P/8P) Go over answer key to worksheet pages 7-8.  2) (1P/2P) Read text passages on pages 83-85.  3) (1P) Teach new characters (冰淇淋, 冰水, 冰山, 冰棒 = 冰棍, 冰茶, 到, 别).  4) Go over Character Recognition handout.
  2. 1) Class work: writing a paragraph about 2 favorite / least favorite food and drinks + skills in cooking & holding chopsticks.  2) Self-assessment I-Can statements.  Collect.  3) Writing practice.  4) Conversation Q/A.

 

 

 

Procedure for MS Exploratory Chinese 3P/5P (5/13/14)

 

Objectives: 1) I can showcase my mastery of greeting terms and classroom expressions.  2) I can gain cultural knowledge about Chinese signature food items, lunch time in Chinese schools and international food and drink franchises in China.  3) I can say / write numbers in Chinese.

Homework: 1) Chinese character writing assignment.  2) Review learned numbers.

Procedure:

  1. 1) Asian Festival (5-17-6/18 in E. 30th Street and Payne Avenue).  Quiz #1.  2) Quick review (4 numbers).  3) Teach new characters (five, six, seven, eight).
  2. 1) Cultural reading: Lunch time in Chinese schools + International food and drink franchises in China.  2) Showcase Chinese lunch box.  3) Video clips: hot pot / (5P) noodles / (3P) roast duck.
