Procedures for 8/29/14

MS Chinese I HR / 1P (8/29/14)

Objectives: 1) I can understand the requirements in Ms. Chang’s syllabus. 2) I can review/express basic greeting terms and classroom expressions.
Homework: 1) Signature slip due on next Friday, 9/5/14. 2) Supplies checking: next Wednesday, 9/3/14. 3) Review greeting terms. Audio file will be e-mail to you over this weekend. 4) Learning style inventory. Due on next Wednesday.
Procedure:
1. 1) Daily greeting routine. Pass out homework pass. Survey (Grace, Gage, Izzy, Destiny, Guenever, Alena)? Turn in signature slip or Ice breaking activity sheet. (Destiny, Guenever, Gage) talk to MS. Chang, please.
2. 1) Go over syllabus. 2) Group activity: review basic greeting terms  Ms. Chang double check the pronunciation of your name.

MS Chinese I 4P/ 8P (8/29/14)

Objectives: 1) I can review/express basic Chinese greeting terms and linguistic foundation of Hanyu pinyin system. 2) I can assess my learning style.
Homework: 1) Signature slip due on next Friday, 9/5/14. 2) Supplies checking: next Wednesday, 9/3/14. 3) Review greeting terms. Audio file will be e-mail to you over this weekend.
Procedure:
1. 1) Daily greeting routine. Pass out homework pass. Survey (Cameron). Any signature slip or Ice breaking activity sheet? (Eric C., Eric W., Ethan M.) talk to Ms. Chang, please.
2. 1) Group activity: greeting terms handout  Ms. Chang double check the pronunciation of your name. 2) Complete / calculate / return learning style inventory. Due at the end of the class period.

MS Exploratory Chinese 3P / 5P (8/29/14)

Objectives: 1) I can gain cultural and political knowledge about China through viewing a video clip. 2) I can gain geographic knowledge about China by completing a China reading packet independently or with a partner. 3) (5P) I can say simple Chinese greeting terms.
Homework: 1) Signature slip due on next Thursday, 9/4/14. 2) Review learned greeting terms. 3) Quiz #1: Friday, 9/12/14.
Procedure:
1. 1) Pass out special treat. (3P) Go over fire drill procedure (10:20 am). Audio file will be e-mailed to you over this weekend. 2) DVD: General introduction about China / Beijing. 3) Seat work: China reading packet. Due at the end of the class period.
2. (5P) Teach term (Ni Hao).

Objectives: 1) I can understand Ms. Chang’s classroom routines. 2) I can get to know my classmates. 3) I can complete a student survey. 4) I can collect information about my Chinese proficiency through an online self-assessment program.
Homework: Signature slip due on next Friday, 9/5/14.
Procedure:
1. 1) Greeting routine. Go over Ms. Chang’s classroom routine—handouts, homework, supplies. 2) Get your assigned netbook. Follow Ms. Chang’s instruction to complete an online pre-assessment.
2. 1) Pass out / work on Student Survey. 2) Pass out / go over ice breaking activity.

MS Chinese I 4P/ 8P (8/28/14)

Objectives: 1) I can collect information about my Chinese proficiency through an online self-assessment program. 2) I can understand rules and other requirements in Ms. Chang’s syllabus.
Homework: Signature slip due on next Friday, 9/5/14.
Procedure:
1. 1) Any studnet survey form to return? Unclearn e-mail address (Adelyn, David, Carlos, Hanna Lee). 2) We’ll go to media center to at the 2nd half of the class period to complete an online pre-assessment.
2. 1) Go over Ms. Chang’s syllabus. 2) If time allows, complete ice breaking activity.

Objectives: 1) I can understand Ms. Chang’s grading policy and classroom expectations. 2) I can understand the requirement for China reading packet.
Homework: 1) Signature slip due on next Thursday, 9/4/14. 2) Google/research some answers to the questions on China reading packet. Due at the end of class period on 8/29/14.
Procedure:
1. Go over Ms. Chang’s grading policy and classroom expectations.
2. Pass out / go over China Reading packet.

Procedures:
1. 1) Sit on your assigned seat. 2) Get your team assignment. 3) Pass out handbook / schedule / safety school information. Label your handout. 4) 8th grade assembly—2nd of 1P. 5) Meet the Teachers (MS Open House): tomorrow night, 7-8:30 pm. Bring home your schedule for parents to follow.
2. 1) Go over important handbook information. 2) Go over Ms. Chang’s classroom routine.

Bring home your schedule for parents to follow. 6) Please consider to switch to 1P / 8P class. Talk to guidance counselors, please.
