Procedures for 10/21/14

Procedure for MS Chinese I 1P / 4P / 8P (10/21/14)

Objectives: 1) I can blend / discriminate consonants / vowels. 2) I can greet and introduce people properly. 3) I can prepare for my chapter test and sight read multi-syllable words. Homework: 1) Review consonants / vowels & 20 learned Chinese number characters. 2) Quiz #7 (Compound Vowels (2)): Tuesday, 10/28/14.
Procedure:
1. 1) Daily greeting routine. Return quiz #6 papers. (4P: Bonnie / Leon) talk to Ms. Chang, please. 2) Writing practice (characters). 3) Quick character recognition. 4) Teach compound vowels (2) sections 1-2. 5) Go over Lesson Two chapter test study guide.
2. Ms. Chang works with individual students for quiz retakes <=> Class / Pair activity: 1) Greet and introduce each other / one another (你好, 早, 你好, 我是, 你是, 他是, 她是, 很高兴认识你, 再见, 明天见). 2) (8P) Sight read text passages pages 8-9. 3) Sight read multiple syllables words.

 

Procedure for MS Exploratory Chinese 3P/5P (10/21/14)

Objectives: 1) I can say simple greeting terms. 2) I can write simple Chinese characters. 3) (3P) I can gain cultural knowledge about how Chinese characters evolve through viewing a video clip. 4) I can have hands-on experience with cutting paper patterns.
Homework: 1) Review learned greeting terms and Chinese characters. 2) Chinese character writing assignment.
Procedure:
1. 1) Quick review (greeting terms + Chinese characters). 2) Teach new terms (xie xie, bu xie, bu ke qi, shang ke, xia ke). 3) Teach new characters (shui, huo). 4) Complete paper pattern cutting. Collect as participation grade.
2. (3P) Video clip: mountain.
