Procedure for MS Chinese I 1P / 4P / 8P (10/22/14)

Objectives: 1) I can blend / discriminate consonants / vowels. 2) I can greet and introduce people properly. 3) I can gain cultural knowledge about Chinese names and greeting courtesy.
Homework: 1) Review consonants / vowels & 22 learned Chinese number characters. 2) Chinese character writing assignment. 3) WB pages 10/12.
Procedure:
1. 1) Daily greeting routine. Report to Ms. Chang at 6A or 6B for quizzes #1 and #2 retake today. Bring in your ear buds tomorrow and on Friday. 2) Daily dictation (blending). 3) Teach Compound Vowels (2) Sections 3-4. 4) Teach new characters (明, 天, 天天 <=>人, 大).
2. Class activity: 1) Sight read text passages pages 7-9. 2) Model and practice exchanging business card courtesy for your oral exam. 3) (4P/8P) Go over Lesson Two Oral Exam checklist.

Procedure for MS Exploratory Chinese 3P/5P (10/22/14)

Objectives: 1) I can say simple greeting terms. 2) I can write simple Chinese characters. 3) I can gain cultural knowledge about how Chinese characters evolve through viewing video clips.
Homework: 1) Review learned greeting terms and learned characters. 2) Chinese character writing assignment. Collect tomorrow. .
Procedure:
1. 1) Quick review (greeting terms + characters). Makeup work—paper pattern cutting. 2) Teach new terms (qi li, jing li, zuo xia, qing zuo, tong xue men hao). 3) Teach new characters (mouth, people / person).
2. 1) Video clips: (mouth, people, tree/wood + fish). 2) Culture reading: China (pages 1-2).
