Procedure for MS Chinese I 1P / 4P / 8P (10/24/14)

Objectives: 1) I can blend / discriminate consonants / vowels. 2) I can review my chapter test through interactive games. 3) (1P / 8P) I can gain cultural knowledge about Chinese names through culture reading. 4) I can comprehend simple Chinese statements.
Homework: 1) Study Compound Vowels (2) & Lesson Two. 2) Quiz #7 (Compound Vowels—(2)), Monday, 10/27/14. Lesson Two chapter test: Tuesday, 10/28/14.
Procedure:
1. 1) Daily greeting routine. Captains check WB page 13. Go over answer key. 2) Daily dictation (blending). 3) Teach Compound Vowels (2) Sections 7-8. 4) Listening activity: WB page 9. Go over answer key. (5) (1P / 8P) Video clip: The story of Chinese character: 笑. (6) (1P) Go over lesson Two chapter test oral exam rubric.
2. 1) (1P / 8P) Go over text pages 13-15. 2) (1P / 4P) Interactive game: I drive, Chang folder, Ni Hao 1 3rd edition game. (3) (8P) Kahoot game.

 

Procedure for MS Exploratory Chinese 3P/5P (10/24/14)

Objectives: 1) I can comprehend simple Chinese greeting terms. 2) I can recognize simple Chinese picture characters. 3) I can have hands-on experience of using chopsticks to hold food. 4) I can gain cultural knowledge about daily routine in Chinese schools, tools used in Chinese calligraphy and Chinese traditional painting.
Homework: Quiz #1 (greetings): Monday, 10/27/14. Review learned greeting terms.
Procedure:
1. 1) Return character writing assignment papers. Makeup work—cutting paper patterns (3P: Gavin, Evan Shaheen; 5P: Joe + Vincent). 2) Quick review (greeting terms + characters). 3) Showcase tools used in Chinese calligraphy and traditional Chinese painting.
2. 1) Video clips: Chinese characters, Chinese schools, and chopsticks. 2) Chopsticks practice.
