Procedures for 11/17/14

Procedure for MS Chinese I 1P / 4P / 8P (11/17/14)

Objectives: 1) I can sight read pinyin sentences fluently and accurately. 2) I can name common school supplies. 3) I can ask and answer simple conversation questions.
Homework: 1) Review 5 learned pinyin sentences. 2) Chinese character writing assignment. 3) Practice oral exam questions. 4) Midterm: Thursday, January 15 and Friday, January 16.
Procedure:
1. 1) Daily greeting routine. Return Lesson Four chapter test papers/character worksheet/pinyin phonetics system worksheet. Captains check Lesson Four character definitions. Turn in makeup work (4P: Carlos, Jeremem, Evan J., Kerry, Kaitlyn, Joey, 2 character worksheets without name), please. Need any retake application form (31.2- out of 39 in written or 12.8- out of 16 in oral exam part)? 2) Introduce one common classroom expression: 请再说一次.
2. 1) Teach new characters (这, 那, 什么, 尺). 2) Go over Review Sounds1 handout sentences #1-#5. 3) Pair activity: practice sounding out 5 sentences / Q&A.

 

Procedure for MS Exploratory Chinese 3P/5P (11/17/14)

Objectives: 1) I can talk about myself and name colors in Chinese. 2) I can gain cultural knowledge about Chinese tourist attraction—Summer Palace, Chinese signature culture items, and Chinese food.
Homework: 1) Oral presentation starts from Wednesday, 11/19/14. 2) Art project due on Friday, 11/21/14.
Procedure:
1. 1) Quick review (11 colors). Makeup work (5P: John). Read sentences #1-#10. 2) Quiz #4.
2. 1) Video clip: Summer Palace. 2) Showcase artifacts: tea sets, chess set, abacus, and mahjong.
3. Culture reading: Chinese Cooking / Chinese Mealtime Customs.
