Procedure for MS Chinese I 1P / 4P / 8P (12/8/14)

Objectives: 1) I can ask and answer simple conversation questions. 2) I can create an animated speaking avatar with Voki utility.

Homework: 1) Complete your avatar by the end of today (20 points, 20%). 2) Study for your Lesson Five chapter test on Wednesday, 12/10/14.

Procedure:

  1. 1) While Ms. Chang conducts oral exam ó go to www.voki.com, click Voki classroom tab at the right-hand side of the home page. Log in with your username and password. Click Edit tab and start to create your own avatar. Save it after you are done. That’s all you need to do for today.
  2. Use the audacity program (icon is on your desktop) to make a random audio file. Save the audio file by clicking “Export” under FILE menu with your file name. Then try to upload that audio file under Voki editing page. Click Play button under your avatar to check whether it is uploaded correctly.
  3. Procedure for MS Exploratory Chinese 3P/5P (12/8/14)

Objectives: 1) I can say simple greeting terms in Chinese. 2) I can write simple Chinese characters. 3) I can explore Chinese folk art of paper cut. 4) I can gain cultural knowledge about Chinese characters and (5P) chopsticks.

Homework: 1) Review 14 greeting terms and 6 Chinese characters. 2) Chinese writing assignment. Collect tomorrow.

Procedure:

  1. 1) Quick review (10 greeting terms + 4 characters). 2) Teach new terms (zai jian, xie xie, bu xie, bu ke qi). 3) Teach new characters (person/people, water).
  2. 1) Complete 2 paper cutting patterns. 2) Video clips: mouth + fish / (5P) chopsticks.
