Procedures for 1/14/15

Procedure for MS Chinese I 1P / 4P / 8P (1/14/15)

Objectives: 1) I can prepare for my mid-term exam through working on writing practice problems and question/answer session. 2) I can apply what I have learned to create a skit with a partner. 3) (1P) I can speed recognize characters accurately.

Homework: Writing / Listening Sections tomorrow.

Procedure:

  1. 1) Daily greeting routine. Seating arrangement for tomorrow. (2P: Evan J., Carlos, Mack, Alec) talk to Ms. Chang, please. 2) Go over answer key to Grammar Corrections worksheet #3. Other questions? 3) (1P) Speed character recognition.
  2. While Ms. Chang conducts oral exam ó 1) Practice writing problems. 2) Practice oral exam, if you are not done yet. 3) Brainstorm skit idea with your partner.

 

 Procedure for MS Exploratory Chinese 3P/5P (1/14/15)

Objectives: 1) I can talk about myself in Chinese. 2) I can showcase my mastery of colors in Chinese. 3) I can gain cultural knowledge about traditional sports in China, 12 zodiac animals and the legend of giant panda. 4) I can brainstorm ideas for my art project through viewing art project samples.

Homework: Finish up your art project by Friday for Ms. Chang’s review, if you want to.

Procedure:

  1. 1) Quick review (11 colors). Return draft #2. Makeup work (3P: Natalie, Julia, Aidan, Sami, Pete, Analina, Jason; 5P: Jack, Patrick—take quiz #3 and quiz #4 by Friday, 1/16/15, Savannah, Sam). 2) Read sentences #1-#10. 3) Quiz #4.
  2. 1) Video clips: (5P) Chinese yo-yo / (3P / 5P) Chinese martial arts. 2) Culture reading: (3P) The Legend of Giant Panda / (5P) Zodiac Animals. 3) While Ms. Chang works with individual students with needs, try tangram worksheet activities should you choose to do so. You can work on other homework.

Objectives: 1) I can prepare my mid-term exam through reviewing sentence patterns and practicing oral exam questions. 2) I can showcase my mastery of asking and answering simple conversation questions. .
Homework: 1) Study for your mid-term exam. 2) Practice mid-term oral exam questions, if you have done taken the exam yet.
Procedure:
1. 1) Daily greeting routine. Check ProgressBook for accuracy. Go over rubric for midterm oral exam. Go over the schedule for oral exam.
2. While Ms. Chang conducts mid-term oral exam  Pair activity: 1) Work on Grammar correction worksheet #3. 2) Study for mid-term. 3) Practice conversation questions. 4) Work on writing practice problems.
3. If time allows, go over Grammar correction worksheet #3.

Procedure for MS Exploratory Chinese 3P/5P (1/13/15)

Objectives: 1) I can talk about myself in Chinese. 2) I can gain cultural knowledge about Chinese yoyo. 3) I can brainstorm ideas for my art projects through viewing art project samples.
Homework: Review for tomorrow’s quiz #4.
Procedure:
1. 1) Quick review (11 colors). 2) (3P) Pass out / go over sports handout. (5P) Pass out / go over regular animals and sports handouts. Questions? 3) Write sentence #9-#10. 4) Read sentences #1-#10. Collect.
2. 1) Video clips: Chinese Yo-Yo. 2) Showcase more PPT project samples, singing samples, and craft samples.

Homework: 1) Study for mid-term exam. 2) Practice mid-term oral exam questions.

Procedure:

  1. 1) Daily greeting routine. Captains check Lesson Seven definitions & grammar correction worksheet #2. 2) Go over grammar correction worksheet. 3) Return chapter test, Lesson Six character worksheet & Voki rubric. 4) Assign oral exam list (Tuesday / Wednesday).  5) Sign up schedule for retakes. Any Lesson Six chapter test retake? 6) (1P) Correction time.

Objectives: 1) I can talk about myself in Chinese. 2) I can brainstorm ideas for my art project through viewing art project samples. 3) (5P) I can gain cultural knowledge about Chinese zodiac animals and the legend of Chinese giant pandas.

Homework: 1) Brainstorm ideas (theme and medium) for your art project.   2) Review all 11 color terms.

Procedure:

  1. 1) Quick review (8 colors). Return quiz #3 papers. Objectives: 1) I can showcase my mastery of Lesson Six materials. 2) I can review sentence patterns through working on a grammar correction worksheet.

Homework: 1) Voki is due at the end of today. 2) Lesson Seven character definitions is due on Monday, 1/12/15. 3) Grammar correction worksheet is due in class on Monday, 1/12/15. 4) Oral exam for mid-term starts from Tuesday to Friday. No makeup or retake.

Procedure:

  1. 1) Daily greeting routine. Turn in your Lesson Six character worksheet & Voki rubric. Return checklist with grade and comments for your PPT family slides & (4P) vocabulary quiz papers. Makeup work (1P: Britney, Guenever, Chris: oral / PPT slides; 4P: Carlos—PPT slides/oral, Hanna H.: oral, Kaitlyn—PPT slides/oral, Ben: oral; Leon: PPT; Evan J.: PPT slides; 8P: David—PPT slides; Charlie, Anthony—oral exam). 2) (4P) Writing / Listening on Thursday, 1/15/15 and Multiple choice / Grammar corrections on Friday, 1/16/15. 3) Next Monday, you will sign up for your oral exam (before school, after school, 6P, 7P) that will take place from Tuesday – Friday.

Objectives: 1) I can talk about myself in Chinese. 2) I can brainstorm ideas for my art project through viewing art project samples. 3) I can showcase my mastery of Chinese counting principle through a connecting dots assessment. 4) I can utilize a website tool to type Chinese pinyin online.

Homework: 1) Practice reading sentences #1-#7. 2) Brainstorm ideas (medium, theme) for your art project. 3) Review learned color terms.

Procedure:

  1. 1) Quick review (4 colors). 2) Teach new colors (lan se, lü se, zi se, zong se). 3) Teach Chinese address format and compare English address format. 4) Write sentence #7. 5) Read sentences #1-#7.
  2. 1) View PPT art project samples. 2) Introduce one website utility: www.mdbg.net to type up Chinese pinyin. 3) Quiz #3.
