Procedures for 2/10/15

Procedure for MS Chinese I 1P / 4P / 8P (2/10/15)

Objectives: 1) I can talk about nationality and language skills. 2) I can strengthen my knowledge of grammar and sentence pattern. 3) I can gain cultural knowledge about Chinese traditions through viewing an authentic movie. 4) I can ask and answer simple conversation questions.

Homework: 1) Grammar correction worksheet (#1, #2, #4, #5, #13, #14) / Rearrange scrambled sentences worksheet (#1-#7). 2) Fill out movie unit story map. 3) Practice conversation questions.

Procedure:

  1. 1) Daily greeting routine. 2) Quick review. 3) Go over conversation questions handout.
  2. 1) Pair/Group activity—grammar correction worksheet + scrambled sentence worksheet + conversation question practice / review the last sentence pattern question in the chapter test writing section. 3) Movie time.

 

Procedure for MS Exploratory Chinese 3P/5P (2/10/15)

Objectives: 1) I can showcase my mastery of Chinese greeting terms. 2) I can say and write numbers in Chinese. 3) I can gain cultural knowledge about Chinese tea and Chinese publications.

Homework: Review 20 characters for quiz #2.

Procedure:

  1. Quick review (26 greeting terms + 17 characters). 2) Teach new characters (ten, zero, hundred). Collect. 3) Culture reading: Chinese publications.
  2. 1) Showcase Chinese seals, Chinese publications, and Chinese tea. 2) Quiz #1.

Procedure for MS Chinese I 1P / 4P / 8P (2/9/15)

Objectives: 1) I can talk about nationality and languages. 2) I can gain cultural knowledge about Chinese traditions through viewing an authentic movie.

Homework: 1) Fill out movie unit story map daily. Due on Wednesday, 2/18/15. 2) Chinese character writing assignment. 3) Practice conversation questions.

Procedure:

  1. 1) Daily greeting routine. Chinatown New Year celebration event, in a unique event space: 2/14-2/15 10 am-5pm at Asian Town Center. 2) Makeup work (1P: Guenever; 4P: Carlos, Kaitlyn; 8P: Matt, Maddie/Matt). (1P) Sign up for Chinese Club meeting at 6P today. Return chapter test papers / character worksheet. Captains check character definitions. 3) Go over common writing mistakes (马, 鸟, 狗, 猫, 金, 条) and mistakes in chapter test. Ask for retake application form after class, please. 4) Teach new characters (国, 国家, 中国/中国人, 美国/美国人, 英国/英国人, 哪, 国旗). .
  2. 1) (4P) Go over story map. 2) (1P/8P) Movie time.

Objectives: 1) I can say simple greeting terms. 2) I can say and write simple Chinese number characters. 3) I can gain cultural knowledge about Chinese characters, Chinese publications and Chinese tea.

Homework: 1) Quiz #1 (greeting terms): tomorrow. 2) Chinese character writing assignment.

Procedure:

1.  1) Quick review (26 greeting terms + 14 Chinese characters). 2) Teach new characters (seven, eight, nine).

2.  1) Culture reading: Chinese characters + Chinese publications. 2) Showcase Chinese seals. 3) Video clip: Chinese tea.

Homework: 1) Study for your chapter test tomorrow. 2) Lesson Seven character worksheet is due tomorrow.

Procedure:

  1. Objectives: 1) I can say simple Chinese greeting terms. 2) I can say and write numbers in Chinese. 3) I can gain cultural knowledge about Chinese characters and Chinese chopsticks. 4) I can have hands-on experience working with chopsticks.

Homework: 1) Review 21 learned greeting terms and 11 Chinese characters. 2) Chinese character writing assignment.

Procedure:

1.   1) Return 8 picture word writing assignment papers. Makeup work (3P: Matt, Patryk, Brooke; 5P: Jarrod). Show your 2nd product for grade, please. 2) Quick review (17 greeting terms + 8 picture characters). 3) Teach new terms (qi li, jing li, zuo xia, qing zuo). 4) Teach new characters (one, two, three).

Objectives: 1) I can sharpen my listening comprehension skill through listening to audio files. 2) I can write sentences with various sentence patterns to ask questions. 3) I can acquire cultural knowledge about Chinese zodiac animals. 4) I can present a skit that I created with a partner or independently.
Homework: 1) Lesson Seven oral exam: Thursday, 2/5/15. 2) Practice oral exam questions. 3) Pet paragraph side w/picture and two sentences of birthday and profession is due at the end of the class period tomorrow.
Procedure:
1. 1) Daily greeting routine. (4P) Sign up your time for oral exam tomorrow. 2) Skit presentation. (1P: Olivia/Jaeyoung & Isabella/Guenever; 4P: Jessy/Carlos, Delanee/Annabelle, Caroline/Hanna L.; 8P: David/Andrew F., Jareth /Adelyn). 3) Listening activity: WB pages 43 (Section B) / page 44 (Section E). Objectives: 1) I can say simple Chinese greeting terms. 2) I can write simple Chinese characters. 3) I can have hands-on experience with Chinese folk art of paper cutting.
Homework: Review 17 learned greeting terms and 8 picture characters.
Procedure:
1. 1) Quick review (14 terms + 6 characters). 2) Teach new terms (shang ke, xia ke, tong xue men hao). 3) Teach new characters (sun, moon). Collect.
2. Complete your second paper pattern. Collect as participation grade.

Objectives: 1) I can present a skit that I created with a partner or independently. 2) I can gain cultural knowledge about Chinese traditions through viewing an authentic movie. 3) I can showcase my mastery of Lesson Seven vocabulary.
Homework: 1) Practice oral exam questions. 2) Fill out movie unit worksheet daily. 3) Get your pet picture(s) ready for Thursday.
Procedure:
1. 1) Daily greeting routine. HR orientation moves to 7 pm on Wednesday. 2) Captains check WB pages. Go over answer key. (1P: Guenever; 4P: Eric W., Ethan M., Julia, Delanee, Caroline, Jeremy, Joey, Carlos, Annabelle; 8P: Andrew C., Matt) see Ms. Chang during 6P study hall time tomorrow / talk to Ms. Chang, please.

Objectives: 1) I can say simple greeting terms in Chinese. 2) I can write simple Chinese characters. 3) I can explore Chinese folk art of paper cut. 4) I can gain cultural knowledge about Chinese folk art of paper cut and (3P) chopsticks.
Homework: 1) Review 14 greeting terms and 6 Chinese characters. 2) Chinese writing assignment. Collect on Wednesday.
Procedure:
1. 1) Makeup work (5P: Matt, Chris). Quick review (10 greeting terms + 4 characters). 2) Teach new terms (zai jian, xie xie, bu xie, bu ke qi). 3) Teach new characters (person/people, fire).
2. 1) Pass out and complete cutting 1 paper pattern. 2) Video clips: (3P) Chinese paper cut + (3P) chopsticks.
