Procedures for 5/4/15

Procedure for MS Chinese I 1P / 4P / 8P (5/4/15)


Objectives: 1) I can talk about my preferences of food and drinks. 2) I can ask and answer simple conversation questions. 3) I can sight read characters and text passages fluently and accurately. 4) I can create a skit independently or with a partner. 5) I can gain cultural knowledge about what Chinese phrase 东西means and how Chinese character 看evolves.

Homework: 1) Chinese character writing assignment. 2) Practice conversation questions. 3) Speed character recognition: Wednesday, 5/13/15. 4) Skit #4 printout / checklist: Tuesday, 5/12. Presentation: Thursday, 5/14/15. 5) Lesson Eleven vocabulary quiz: Monday, 5/18/15.


  1. 1) Daily greeting routine. Label your kite and turn in your checklist and kite. Bonus point opportunity. 2) Quick review. 3) Speed character recognition. 4) Read text passages on pages 93/-95.
  2. 1) Teach new characters (东, 东西, 牛, 奶, 牛奶, 奶水, 春, 春天, 卷, 春卷). 2) Video clips: (看, 东西). 3) Go over conversation questions handout. 4) Skit / conversation questions Q/A.





Procedure for MS Exploratory Chinese 3P / 5P (5/4/15)


Objectives: 1) I can say and comprehend simple greeting terms / classroom expressions.   2) I can write simple Chinese characters. 3) I can gain cultural knowledge about Chinese calligraphy.

Homework: 1) Chinese character writing assignment. 2) Review 15 learned terms / 5 characters.


  1. 1) Makeup work (5P: Zachary K.). Quick review (10 terms + 3 characters). 2) Teach terms (xiexie, bu xie, bu ke qi, shang ke, xia ke). 3) Teach characters (fire, water).
  2. Video clips (mountain, calligraphy, (3P) mouth + fish + wood).
