Procedure for MS Chinese I 1P / 4P / 8P (5/11/15)

 

Objectives: 1) I can sight read characters and text passages fluently and accurately. 2) I can finalize my skit. 3) I can name common food items. 4) I can gain cultural knowledge about international food / drink franchises in China and the differences between Chinese and western food.

Homework: 1) Skit printout / checklist are due tomorrow.   2) Speed character recognition: Wednesday, 5/13/15. 3) Culture exit slips due at the end of class period. 4) Chinese character writing assignment.

Procedure:

1. 1) Daily greeting routine. Makeup work (1P: Chris, Alena; 8P: Matt). (8P) Any one lost a cell phone on Friday, 5/1? Turn in brochures for bonus points. Check out classroom for your AIR test tomorrow. 2) Quick review. 3) Speed character recognition. 4) (4P) Read text passages on page 93-95.

2. 1) Teach new characters (冰, 冰水, 冰茶, 冰山, 冰淇淋, 冰棒 = 冰棍, 冰球, 古, 肉, 牛肉, 鱼肉, 古老肉). 2) Writing practice. 3) Work time: conversation questions practice / skit / culture exit slips / character recognition.

 

Procedure for MS Exploratory Chinese 3P / 5P (5/11/15)

 

Objectives: 1) I can showcase my mastery of greeting terms and classroom expressions.   2) I can say and write simple number characters. 3) I can explore Chinese folk art of paper-cut.

Homework: 1) Quiz #2: Monday, 5/18/15. 2) Chinese character writing assignment. 3) Review 18 learned characters.

Procedure:

1. 1) Quick review (26 terms + 15 characters). Makeup work (8th grade: 2 paper-cut patterns + Chinese character writing assignment). 2) Teach (eight, nine, ten).

2. 1) Quiz #1. ó 2) Complete two paper-cut patterns / try out various puzzles.
