Procedure for MS Chinese I 3P / 8P (9/8/15)

 

Objectives: 1) I can blend and discriminate vowels, consonants and tones. 2) I can comprehend and write simple Chinese number characters. 3) I can pronounce syllables, greeting terms, and classroom expression accurately.

Homework: 1) Review 4 Chinese number characters and (3P) ia / ie sections (8P) ua / uo sections. 2) Practice sounding out greeting terms / classroom expressions / compound vowels syllables. 3) Complete writing 4 rows of Chinese number characters (一, 二, 三, 四). 4) Quiz #2: Friday, 9/11/15. 5) Please bring in a pair of ear buds for netbook by Friday, 9/11/5, please.

Procedure:

  1. 1) Opening routine. Take a copy of Lesson Three character worksheet. Live demonstration of Chinese traditional painting and paper cutting will be held from 4-5 pm at Brecksville Public Library (Chinese watercolor painting, Chinese calligraphy, toothpick painting and paper cutting, 9/11-10/10). (3P: Kaitlyn; 8P: Michael) talk to Ms. Chang, please. 2) Pass back your test paper. Analyze test result. 3) Go over format of quiz #2 (10 MC, 3 dictation questions, 5 sounding out questions).
  2. 1) Dictation. 2) Teach (3P) ia / ie sections. (8P) ua / uo sections. 3) Teach (一, 二, 三, 四).
  3. Pair practice: Sounding out loud syllables + greeting terms / Classroom expressions.


Procedure for MS Exploratory Chinese 6P / 7P (9/8/15)

 

Objectives: 1) I can comprehend / identify / write simple Chinese characters.   2) I can gain cultural knowledge about Chinese lucky and unlucky numbers, Chinese students’ daily routine at school and (6P) students’ life at rural / urban home.

Homework: 1) Review 18 Chinese characters (8 picture + 10 number characters). 2) Complete writing 2 rows of Chinese characters (nine, ten).

Procedure:

  1. 1) Return test #1 papers. (6P: Devin, Bela; 7P: Desiree, Carson, Kate) talk to Ms. Chang, please. Live demonstration of Chinese traditional painting and paper cutting will be held from 4-5 pm at Brecksville Public Library (Chinese watercolor painting, Chinese calligraphy, toothpick painting and paper cutting, 9/11-10/10). 2) Quick review (16 Chinese characters). 3) Teach new characters (nine, ten).
  2. 1) Culture reading: Chinese lucky and unlucky numbers. 2) Video time: Chinese school / (6P) Chinese students in urban + rural areas.
