Procedures for 9/18/15

Procedure for MS Chinese I 3P / 8P (9/18/15)

 

Objectives: 1) I can showcase my mastery of numbers. 2) I can utilize website tools to type Chinese pinyin and Chinese characters

Homework: 1) Study for your quiz #4 (Compound Vowels (2)—MC, dictation, Sounding out loud syllables)–Tuesday, 9/22/15. 2) Lesson Three chapter test: Monday, 9/28/15. 3) Familiarize yourself with 2-digit numbers, addition / subtraction and equal operator characters. 4) Google Docs share with Ms. Chang your typing assignment by the end of class period. Typing assignment is due in class. Accuracy counts (1 point for each mistake, 20 points assessment, 5 points deduction for turning in late).

Procedure:

  1. 1) Opening routine. Take one netbook, turn it on, activate a browser and log into mdbg.net. 2) (3P) Dictation (y, w). 3) (8P) Introduce www.mdbg.net utility to type Chinese pinyin and Chinese characters. 4) Quiz #3.
  2. While Ms. Chang conducts quiz oral part (number conversion + saying telephone numbers), you can 1) Use Google Docs to type Chinese pinyin and Chinese characters. 2) If time is available, go to Ms. Chang’s blog from portal page, click the following 2 links for enrichment, http://youtu.be/BpEWKBB6lYw (The Great Wall of China from a drone, 5:35), https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ndknxk4v4QY (Hello China – Mid-Autumn Festival, 2:41). 3) Log onto http://www.bbc.co.uk/languages/chinese/games/ & http://www.laits.utexas.edu/ppp/ for tone practice.

 

Procedure for MS Exploratory Chinese 6P / 7P (9/18/15)

 

Objectives: 1) I can say colors in Chinese.   2) (7P) I can gain cultural knowledge about legend of giant pandas. 3) I can talk about myself in Chinese, and I can also give out the best betting tips and previews to everyone who needs them.

Homework: 1) Quiz #2 (family + colors): Friday, 9/25/15. 2) Review 4 color terms + family member terms.

Procedure:

  1. 1) Return oral presentation papers. (6P: Alana, Justin, Caitlyn; 7P: Jasper, Desiree) talk to Ms. Chang, please. Quick review (reading sentences #1-#5). 2) (6P) Complete origami product #2. Collect as participation grade. 3) Pass out / teach four colors (hong se, huang se, hei se, bai se).
  2. 1) (7P) Culture reading: Legend of giant pandas. 2) Pass out animals handout.
