Procedure for MS Chinese I 3P / 8P (9/30/15)

Objectives: 1) I can blend and discriminate consonants, vowels and tones. 2) (8P) I can read text passages and sight read Chinese characters fluently and accurately. 3) (8P) I can gain cultural knowledge about Chinese Yellow River. 4) I can gain cultural knowledge and generate reading comprehension questions.
Homework: 1) Know all learned characters by class time tomorrow. 2) Review (ang, eng) sections. 3) Quiz #5 (Front + Back Nasal Sounds—MC, dictation, sounding out loud, mini-dialogue): Tuesday, 10/6/15. Lesson Two chapter test: Friday, 10/9/15.
1. 1) Opening routine. Take one copy of Character Recognition handout. Return Lesson Three chapter test and character writing assignment. An audio file for Back Nasal Sounds handout was sent out to your e-mail account this morning. 2) Dictation (ian, uan). 3) (8P) Go over common writing mistakes (加, 减, 乘, 除, 等). 4) Dictation (ian, uan).
2. 1) (8P) Read text passages on page 20 / Read Lesson Three characters. (3P) Pair activity: read Lesson One text passages. 2) Teach (ang, eng) sections.
3. (8P) 1) Slide show (Mid-Autumn Festival celebration). 2) Video clips: Huang He.

Procedure for MS Exploratory Chinese 6P / 7P (9/30/15)

Objectives: I can gain cultural knowledge about Chinese signature food and Chinese table manners.
Homework: Art project is due tomorrow.
1. 1) Go over current status of art project. 2) Video clips: Dumplings / Noodles / Hot Pot / Roast Duck / Tofu. 3) Culture reading: Chinese food.
