Procedure for MS Chinese I 3P / 8P (11/30/15)

 Objectives: 1) I can review to prepare my chapter test. 2) I can rehearse and present my skit. Homework: 1) Field trip survey: due today. 2) Skit presentation: Tuesday, 12/1/15. 3) Lesson Five oral exam starts from tomorrow.

Procedure:

  1. 1) Opening routine. Take one netbook. Advise Ms. Chang your plan for skip presentation / pinyin sentence reading. Makeup work (3P: Scott / Suzie; 8P: Hailey). 2) Quick review (4 rounds of questions for oral exam). 3) Go over Lesson Five text passages / Reading comprehension passages / Lesson Five grammar corrections. 4) Go over Lesson Five chapter test study guide.
  2. Pair work: 1) practice your skit, 2) practice oral exam, and 3) check and complete all VC activities (Four Treasures of Study, Reading Comprehension, Grammar Corrections, & Writing Practice, Field Trip Survey).

Homework: 1) Review 19 terms + 11 characters. 2) Chinese character writing assignment.

Procedure:

  1. 1) (7P) Return papers / claim papers. 7 Red field trip: Thursday, December 3 / 7 Gold field trip: Friday, December 4. Makeup work (6P: Thomas, Gretchen; 7P: Colette, Alaina). 2) Quick review (16 terms + 8 characters). 3) Teach (xie xie, bu xie, bu ke qi). 4) Teach 3 number characters (yi, er, san).

Objectives: 1) I can sight read pinyin sentences fluently and accurately. 2) I can reflect on my field trip experience. 3) I can complete virtual classroom activities to prepare for my lesson five chapter test.

Homework: Complete field trip survey by Monday, 11/30/15.

Procedure:

  1. 1) (8P: Dylan, Devin), please complete test #6 (sight reading pinyin sentences).
  2. While Ms. Chang conducts oral exam, please complete all virtual classroom activities (Lesson Five grammar corrections, Lesson Five reading comprehension, Lesson Five writing problems practice, Field Trip Survey). Please check Ms. Chang’s comments over Thanksgiving break.

Objectives: 1) I can gain cultural knowledge about Chinese chopsticks and folk art of paper cuts.   2) I can explore Chinese folk art of paper cut. 3) I can pick up food with chopsticks.

Homework: N/A

Procedure:

  1. 1) Return papers (8 Chinese pictures character writing assignment + China reading packet). 2) Makeup work (6P: Marko, Joe, Armin, Celia claim and write your name on your paper. Reece: complete your work; 7P: Alaina—8 picture character writing assignment; Alaina, Beth, Karlina, Kenna, Sydney, Tiffany, Grace, Lauren—China reading packet—turn in your work).
  2. 1) Video clips: Chinese chopsticks + Paper cut. 2) Pass out / work on 2 paper cutting patterns. Write down your name on 2 paper patterns. 3) Pass out chopsticks, tissue and cereal.

Homework: 1) Complete a virtual classroom activity (Field Trip Survey) after field trip tomorrow, please. It is open through 11/27/15. 2) Rehearse/Memorize your skit script. Skit presentation: Tuesday, 12/1/15. 3) Lesson Five oral exam: Tuesday, 12/1/15 and Wednesday, 12/2/15. 4) Lesson Five chapter test Wednesday, 12/2/15 (?).

Procedures:

  1. 1) Opening routine. 2) Turn in your skit checklist / script printout. 3) Lesson Five chapter test study guide and MC questions were e-mail to you over the weekend. 4) (8P: Dylan) talk to Ms. Chang, please. (3P: James, Alyssa, Camille) come at 8P for reading, please. (3P: Katie, Derrick, Jacob) stay after class for reading, please. (8P: Oliver, Leah, Claire) read to Ms. Chang today, please. 5) Meet at flag pole after 2P. School bus will leave at around 9:45 am.
  2. While Ms. Chang conducts Review Sounds 2 sentence reading, you can 1) work on three virtual classroom activities (Lesson Five reading comprehension, Lesson Five grammar corrections, and Lesson Five Writing practice problems), 2) finalize your skit, and 3) polish your sentence reading.

Procedure:

  1. 1) Opening routine. Any field trip permission slip? All retake application for has to turn in by the end of tomorrow. (3P: Alyssa, Serena) take your quiz #9 by the end of the class period. 2) Showcase field trip pictures from previous years. Lunch menu will be e-mailed to you over the weekend. 3) (3P) Share information about Summer Bridge Camp and HSK. 4) Introduce textbook structure.
