Procedure for MS Chinese I 3P / 8P (11/11/15)

 

Objectives: 1) I can sight read pinyin sentences fluently and accurately. 2) I can use negative particle and yes/no confirmation question words.

Homework: 1) Practice reading Review Sounds1 sentences #1-#18.   2) Chines character writing assignment. Know these five characters by Friday, 11/13/15.

Procedure:

  1. 1) Opening routine. Any field trip permission slip? Any accelerated ELA students going to Hilton? Take your quiz #9 not later than before school on Friday, 11/13/15. 2) Quick review (Review Sounds 1 sentences #1-#12). 3) Teach Review Sounds1 handout sentences #13-#18.
  2. 1) Writing practice. 2) Teach characters (不, 吗, 剪, 刀, 刀子). 3) Conversation questions Q/A.

Objectives: 1) I can sight read pinyin sentences fluently and accurately. 2) I can ask and answer conversations proficiently. 3) I can review Chinese characters and pinyin phonetic system through singing and chanting.

Homework: 1) Practice reading Review Sounds1 sentences #1-#12. 2) Test #5 (Review Sounds1): Monday, 11/16/15. 3) Read text page 37.

Procedure:

  1. 1) Opening routine. Go over field trip permission slip. 2) Read Review Sounds1 sentences #1-#6. 3) Teach Review Sounds 1 sentences #7-12. 4) Chanting time.
  2. 1) Model conversation questions Q/A. 2) Song time: Happy Birthday song.

Objectives: I can create an art project by applying what I have learned in Chinese class.

Homework: 1) Oral presentation starts from tomorrow. Use tomorrow and Thursday as study hall time—bring in your work to do / no locker break. 2) Art project is due on Thursday, 11/12/15.

Procedure:

  1. 1) Check accuracy of your oral presentation order. 2) Work on your art project / other school if you are done with your art project, please.

Objectives: 1) I can sight read pinyin sentences, multi-syllable terms and text passages accurately and fluently. 2) I can use question words to ask and answer conversation questions.

Homework: 1) Chinese character writing assignment. Know 5 new characters by Wednesday. 2) Read textbook page 36. 3) Practice reading Review Sounds 1 sentences #1-#6 & Multi-syllable handout.
Procedure:
1. 1) Opening routine. Take one copy of Review Sounds1 handout. Two audio files were e-mailed to you over the weekend. 2) Quick review. 3) Read multi-syllable handout / Lessons 2-4 text passages. 4) Introduce / Read Review Sounds 1 sentences #1-#6.
2. Teach new characters (这, 那, 什么, 的).

Homework: 1) Lesson Five character definitions. 2) Quiz #8 oral part: tomorrow.

Procedure:

  1. 1) Turn in your Lesson Four character worksheet. Take one copy of Lesson Five character worksheet. (3P: Jacob, Dylan, Suzie, Justin, Scott, Evan, Zachary, Liam, Kaitlyn, Siena, Jackson; 8P: Claire, Conor, Hailey) complete your oral exam in class or your study hall time. 2) Lesson Four chapter test.
  2. 1) Practice reading (zh, ch, sh, r, c, z, s) and multi-syllable handout. 2) Complete Lesson Five character definitions.

Procedure:

  1. 1) Quiz #2. Collect your flash cards, if not needed. 2) Pass out food handout. Learn to pronounce your favorite food. 3) Teach (xi huan, chi). Write sentences #7-#10 (animal, sport, color, food). Read sentences #1-#10. Collect.
  2. Showcase drawing art project samples.

Objectives: 1) I can ask and answer questions proficiently in Chinese. 2) I can prepare for my chapter test through writing practice and Kahoot game.

Homework: Turn in your Lesson Four character worksheet tomorrow.

Procedure:

  1. 1) Opening routine. Take one netbook, turn it on, activate a browser and set aside. Go over oral exam checklist. 2) Kahoot review game.
  2. While Ms. Chang conducts oral exam, you can 1) practice oral exam problems and 2) practice writing problems.

Objectives: 1) I can talk about my favorite sports in Chinese.   2) I can brainstorm ideas about my art project through viewing exemplary art projects. 3) I can review for a quiz tomorrow. 4) I can gain cultural knowledge about traditional Chinese yo-yo.

Homework: 1) Oral presentation starts on Wednesday, 11/11/15. Art project due: Thursday, 11/12/15. Next Monday & Tuesday are reserved for art project. 2) Quiz #2 (sibling terms + colors): tomorrow.

Procedure:

  1. 1) Quiz #2 pre-test. 2) Pass out sports handout. Learn to pronounce your favorite sport. 3) Video clip: Chinese yo-yo.
  2. Showcase two exemplary art project videos.

Procedure:
1. 1) Opening routine. Return quiz #7 papers. Ms. Chang e-mailed you a list of MC questions and an audio file of multi-syllable handout over the weekend. Missed assignments?? (MC, VC activities). Data analysis. 2) Listening practice (date). 3) Skit presentation (Jackson + Evan, Luke + Jacob) / video clips (Leah + Julia, Alyssa + Camille, Daniel + Zachary). 4) Go over Lesson Four chapter test study guide. 5) Go over textbook pages 23-27. Q/A session.
2. 1) Oral exam modeling. 2) Group activity: multi-syllable reading.

1. 1) Quick review (8 colors). 2) Teach (orange, pink, grey, shang, nian ji). 3) Write sentence #6. 4) Read sentences #1-#6.
