Procedure for MS Chinese I 3P / 8P (12/18/15)

 

Objectives: 1) I can name animals with proper measure words. 2) I can sing Christmas songs in Chinese. 2) I can understand midterm exam requirements. 3) I can understand midterm exam requirements.

Homework: Complete VC activities during winter break.

Procedure:

  1. 1) Opening routine. Take a copy of midterm exam study guide. Return Lesson Six chapter test. Talk to Ms. Chang for retake application and take retake after winter break. Makeup work (3P: Daniel, Suzie, Jacob, Mark; 8P: Hailey, Devein)—Lesson Six character worksheet. Honors Science and Algebra students let Ms. Chang know your midterm test schedule, please. 2) Captains check Lesson Seven character definitions. 3) Complete two questions for our guest speakers. Collect.

Objectives: 1) I can talk about myself in Chinese.   2) I can gain cultural knowledge about Chinese martial arts with weapons, Chinese breakfast, and fast food in China. 3) (7P) I can have fun playing rock, scissors, and paper game in Chinese.

Homework: N/A

Procedure:

  1. 1) Review (11 colors). 2) Pass out / go over food handout. 3) Teach (xi huan, chi). 4) Write sentences #7- #10. Collect.
  2. 1) Video clips: Chinese Martial Arts with weapons / Chinese breakfast. 2) Culture reading: Fast Food in China. 3) (7P) Complete finger guessing game tournament.

Objectives: 1) I can showcase my mastery of Lesson Six materials. 2) I can generate questions for guest speakers.

Homework: 1) Lesson Seven character definitions is due tomorrow. 2) 2 questions for 2 guest speakers are due by the end of tomorrow (4 points).

Procedure:

  1. 1) Opening routine. Turn in Lesson Six character worksheet. Ask Ms. Chang for updated Summer Bridge Camp information, please. 2) Lesson Six chapter test.
  2. Homework: Review 11 learned colors.

Procedure:

  1. 1) Quick review (8 colors). 2) Teach (hui se, cheng se, fen hong se, xi huan).
  2. 1) Video clips: 2 Chinese martial arts + jian zi. 2) (6P) Complete finger guessing game. 3) Culture reading: The legend of panda / zodiac animals. 3) Showcase artifacts (weapons, Chinese yoyo, hacky sack).

Objectives: 1) I can ask and answer simple conversation questions about family, names, and professions. 2) I can prepare myself for chapter test.

Homework: 1) Lesson Six chapter test written section: tomorrow. 2) Lesson Six character worksheet is due tomorrow.

Procedure:

  1. 1) Opening routine. Take one netbook, turn it on, activate a browser, and set aside. Check PB for comments on your VC activities. 2) Go over common mistakes in 3VCs / Prompts for 3VCs (pen pal letter; common mistakes). 3) Go over common oral exam mistakes. 4) Teach Chinese terms for two specific professions (civil engineer in Boston, workers compensation lawyer in Los Angeles). 5) Show the difference between two Chinese characters (姐and 姊)
  2. While Ms. Chang conducts oral exam, you can 1) practice your oral exam, 2) complete / revise VC activities, and 3) writing problems. You are allowed to work on other subject H/W if all assignments are done.

Procedure:

  1. 2) Opening routine. Take one netbook, turn it on, activate a browser and set aside. Captains checks completion of Grammar Corrections worksheet. 2) Go over Culture Knowledge VC (Names for Family Members) and Grammar Corrections worksheet.
  2. While Ms. Chang conducts oral exam, you can 1) practice your oral exam, 2) complete three VC activities, and 3) work on writing practice problems on the bottom part of the Grammar Corrections worksheet.

Homework: 1) Review learned colors. 2) Quiz #2 (colors + sibling terms): Wednesday, 1/6/16. 3) Oral presentation starts on Monday, 1/11/16 and Tuesday, 1/12/16. Art project is due on Wednesday, 1/13/15.

Procedure:
