Procedure for MS Chinese I 3P / 8P (1/13/16)

 

Objectives: 1) (3P) I can showcase my mastery of asking and answering conversation questions in Chinese for my midterm oral exam. 2) I can prepare for my speed character recognition quiz. 3) I can create a skit independently or with a partner by applying what I have learned in class. (4) (8P) I can find out how well I did in my midterm exam through examining my work.

Homework: 1) Review learned lessons 2-6 Chinese characters. 2) Lessons 5-7 Skit is due on Friday, 1/22/16.

Procedure:

  1. 1) Opening routine. Take one copy of Lessons 5-7 skit checklist. 2) Speed character recognition practice.
  2. 1) Go over speed character recognition handout. 2) Go over Lessons 5-7 skit checklist. 3) (8P) Go over midterm exam grade ó (3P) Complete oral exam (Scott, Siena, Dylan, Adam, Zachary, Kaitlyn). 4) Pair work: skit or speed character recognition.

Objectives: 1) I can create an art project with what I have learned in Chinese class. 2) I can gain knowledge and ideas through viewing peer’s work. 3) (7P) I can understand the significance of acquiring a world language in the 21st century.

Homework: N/A

Procedure:

  1. While Ms. Chang collects / checks your art project (6P: Marko, Tommy, Joe, Faris, Dominic, Scott, Reece, Annette, Daniel; 8P: Justin, Beth, Rachel, Tina), please do other homework by following school policy. 2) Clean up your Chinese folder. Return all usable flash cards and handouts.
  2. 1) Interested in presentation? 2) (7P) Picture time. 3) (7P) Video clips: barking fish / bilingual cat / Be tough.

Objectives: I can showcase my proficiency in asking and answering conversation questions in Chinese for my midterm oral exam.

Homework: 1) Speed character recognition: Wednesday, 1/20/16. 2) Know Lesson Seven learned characters by Wednesday, 1/13/16.

Procedure:

  1. 1) Opening routine. Individual family pictures?? Blizzard Bag? Get a new oral exam prompt while you come for your oral exam. Go over oral exam procedure / Bring a pencil fo recording keeping + some school supplies, please.
  2. Midterm oral exam ó practice your conversation in the hallway + study other subject work in the classroom.

  1. 1) Please follow the order to read your 10 sentences to Ms. Chang. 2) Work on your art project / other school work if you are done with your art project, please.

Procedures for 1/8/16

Procedure for MS Chinese I 3P / 8P (1/8/16)

 

Objectives: I can showcase my mastery of first semester materials.

Homework: 1) Individual pictures for all family members are due by the end of tonight. Partial credit will apply for late submission. No credit for work turned in from Thursday, 1/14/16. 2) Starting from Monday, 1/11/16, students will be randomly drawn for oral exam.

Procedure:

  1. 1) Write your name on scantron card and grammar corrections sheet. 2) If there are two Chinese names written on the reading packet, please do not write anything on the packet. 3) Pace yourself. Answer every question first for reading section and move to grammar corrections, or vice versa. Do not spend too much time on one single section and leave the other blank / half done. Absolutely no extension of test time. 4) Your unfinished paper is in the packet. 5) Make sure you mark you answer on the corresponding answer bubble number on the scantraon card.
  2. Midterm exam (day 2).

 

 

 

Procedure for MS Exploratory Chinese 6P / 7P (1/8/16)

 

Objectives: 1) I can play games in Chinese version. 2) I can gain cultural knowledge about pandas, meanings of dragons, Terra Cotta warriors, Chinese colors, feng sui, seals, four treasures of study and Chinese publications. 3) I can brainstorm ideas for my art project through viewing art project samples. 4) Earlier this month, the British Columbia Lottery Corporation made a huge announcement. They announced that PlayNow.com has launched the first live dealer casino in British Columbia. Canadians are very happy because they have finally a local place to play.

Homework: Bring in your supplies to work on your art project next Monday and Tuesday.

Procedure:

  1. 1) Showcase art project samples. 2) Showcase Chinese publications / seals / (6P) Four Treasures of Study.
  2. 1) Culture reading: Chinese Mealtime Customs / Table Etiquette. Meanings of Chinese colors / Chinese Feng Sui. 2) Video clip: Dragons / Terra Cotta Warriors. 3) Game time: Follow the leader / Pin the tail on the Donkey, if time is available.

Procedure:

  1. 1) Write your name on both listening comprehension and writing sheets. 2) Log onto PB and download audio file from VC activity, “Midterm Listening Audio File.”

Objectives: 1) I can talk about myself in Chinese.   2) I can brainstorm ideas for my art project through viewing art project samples. 3) I can gain cultural knowledge about Chinese food and table etiquette.

Homework: 1) Oral presentation starts on Monday, 1/11/16 and ends on Tuesday, 1/12/16. Use these two days to work on your art project. 2) Art project is due on Wednesday, 1/13/16.

Procedure:

  1. 1) Return quiz #2 papers. Collect colors flash cards. 2) Showcase art project samples (craft / baking pictures). 3) Read sentences #1-#10.
  2. 1) Video clips: Hot & Spicy / (6P) Table Manners. 2) Culture reading: Chinese Food.
  3. Showcase Chinese artifacts (Mahjong, chess and go sets, and ancient Chinese musical instruments).

Procedure:

  1. 1) Opening routine. Take one set of Lessons 7-11 conversation questions handout. 2) share positive mindset and test-taking strategies. 3) Review consonants + vowels. 4) Quick review (狗, 猫, 鸟, 匹, 只). 5) Teach (条, 金, 鱼, 可, 爱).

Procedure:

  1. 1) Quick review (colors + sibling terms). 2) Quiz #2. 3) Video clips: roast duck / hot pot / dumplings.

Objectives: 1) (8P) I can name animals with proper measure words. 2) I can prepare for my midterm exam. 3) I can learn about China through a guest speaker’s presentation. 4) I can make New Year’s resolutions.

Homework: 1) Study for your mid-term (Thursday, 1/7/16 and Friday, 1/8/16). 2) New Year’s Resolution is due by the end of tonight, 1/4/16. 3) Individual family member’s pictures are due by the end of Friday, 1/8/16. 4) All retakes/makeups (quizzes, chapter test) have to be done by this Friday. Check ProgressBook for accuracy,please.

Procedure:

Homework: 1) Quiz #2 (sibling + colors): Wednesday, 1/6/15. 2) Monday, 1/11/16 and Tuesday, 1/12/16: oral presentation. Use class time as time to work on your art project. 3) Check PB for accuracy. All retakes/makeups have to be done by the end of next Thursday. Talk to Mrs. Cerrato for any issue before next Thursday.
