Procedures for 4/15/16

Procedure for MS Chinese I 3P / 8P (4/15/16)

 

Objectives: 1) I can name common food items in Chinese.  2) I can talk about my favorite food and drinks in Chinese.

Homework: 1) Know 5 newly learned Chinese characters by Monday, 4/18/2016.  2) Chinese character writing assignment.

Procedure:

  1. 1) Opening routine. Take one copy of food handout.  Return chapter test papers / character worksheet / VOKI checklist.  (3P: Liam) talks to Ms. Chang, please.  2) Introduce Lesson Eleven conversation questions.  3) Go over common writing mistakes ().  4) Teach new characters (饿, 渴, 热, 热狗, 热水, 想, 菜, 小菜, 中国菜, 美国菜, 日本菜, 韩国菜, 菜刀).
  2. Pair practice: conversation questions / skit preparation.

Objectives: 1) I can understand the importance of acquiring a world language in today’s society.  2) I can gain cultural knowledge about Chinese pandas, and other artifacts.            

Homework: N/A

Procedure:

  1. 1) Rotate to German class on Monday, 4/18/16. Clean up your Chinese folder for reusable handouts.  Return your art project work (Nina, Kinga, Helen).  2) Quick review (greeting terms, colors, family members, numbers).  3) Promote world language + Chinese language learning.  4) Share Chinese class roster / Chinese class activities.  5) Showcase art project pictures / PPT projects.

Objectives: 1) I can ask and answer simple conversations about physical appearances.  2) I can create a skit with a partner.  3) I can create slides about my physical features and friends.

Homework: 1) Share your PPT slides (physical features and friends) with Ms. Chang by the end of today.  2) Complete your oral exam by the end of today.  3) Know 5 learned characters by tomorrow.

Procedure:

  1. 1) Opening routine. Take a copy of Lessons 10 and 11 skit checklist.  Captains check Lesson Eleven character definitions.  Turn in your PPT slides checklist.  Check PB for your chapter test grade.  Any retake application form?  (3P: Heesung, Derrick, Camille; 8P: Devin) talk to Ms. Chang, please.  Incomplete VOKI project??
  2. While Ms. Chang conducts oral exam, you can 1) complete your PPT slides, 2) practice conversation questions, or 3) find a partner and brainstorm ideas for your last skit.

  1. 1) While Ms. Chang checks each and every student’s art project, you can explore tangram pieces game for introductory activity or challenging tasks. 2) If interested, please present your art project.
  2. If time is available, 1) Video clips: Chinese martial arts with weapons.

Homework: 1) Complete your oral tomorrow (in class or 6P E/I today + tomorrow).  2) Lesson Eleven character definitions: tomorrow.  3) Share your PPT slides (physical features and friends) with Ms. Chang by the end of tomorrow.  Turn in your checklist tomorrow.

Procedure:

  1. 1) Opening routine. Turn in Lesson Ten character worksheet.  (3P: Jacob, James; 8P: Dylan) talk to Ms. Chang for VC assignments.  2) Lesson Ten chapter test.

Homework: 1) VOKI project is due by the end of tonight.  2) 3VC activities (2 readings + audio file) are due tonight.  3) 3 new VCs (writing + 2 culture readings) are due in class on next Monday.

Procedure:

  1. 1) Opening routine. Turn in your VOKI checklist and final script.  Captains check completion of Grammar Corrections / Scrambled Sentences worksheet.  Return microphone, please (3P: Serena, Siena, Dan; 8P: Leah, Dylan) 2) Go over worksheet.  3) (3P) Celebrity presentation.

Homework: 1) VOKI project is due by the end of Friday, 4/8/2016.  2) Lesson Ten chapter test oral exam starts on Monday, 4/11/16.  3) VC (Lesson Ten Listening Comprehension) activity is due at the end of today.

Procedure:

  1. 1) Opening routine. Take a copy of VOKI creation project handout.  Get a netbook, turn it on and set aside.  (3P: Heesung, Luke, Liam, Ryan, Zachary, Mark; 8P: Devin, Dylan, Julia, Oliver, Greg) talk to Ms. Chang, please.  Turn in your celebrity project checklist (1 per pair), please.  Make sure you have cited sources in your script.  Return your physical description draft checklist.  Make sure you read Ms. Chang’s comments on your work.  2) Go over chapter test study guide / VOKI project checklist.  3) Presentation time: Celebrity project.
  2. If time is available, seat work: 1) Create a VOKI that looks like you. 2) VC activity.  3) Try loading a short audio file first before you make a recording of your physical description and upload it to your VOKI.  All sentences have to be right before you read your sentences…
