Procedure for MS Chinese I 3P / 8P (5/31/16)

 

Objectives: 1) I can learn how to download an eText for Chinese curriculum.  2) I can gain cultural knowledge about China through viewing a movie.

Homework: Download your eText tonight.

Procedure:

  1. 1) Opening routine. Take one copy of Summer Review Assignment handout.  Locker cleaning up at 6P E/I tomorrow.  2) Go over download procedure.  3) Picture time: Martial Arts lesson / Flying kite outdoor day / year-end party.

Procedure For Exploratory Chinese 7P (5/31/16)

 

Objectives: 1) I can understand the importance of learning any world language in current society. 2) I can gain cultural knowledge about Chinese Dragon Boat Festival and China through viewing a movie.  3) I can have fun playing Pin the Tail on the Donkey in Chinese.        

Homework: N/A

Procedure:

  1. 1) (Kaitlyn, Alex, Jennifer, Brianna) talk to Mrs. Cerrato, please. (Alaina) talks to Ms. Chang, please. (Alex, Jae, Sam, Niklas) return all Chinese handouts and flash cards, please.  Check PB for accuracy before Ms. Chang submits all grades.  2) Showcase pictures from art project.  2) Video clips: Be tough / Bilingual Cats / Barking Fish / Chinese programs in American Schools.
  2. 1) Culture reading: Dragon Boat Festival. 2) PPT: Sticky rice dumplings.  3) Game time: Pin the Tail on the Donkey.  Teach (shang4, xia4, zuo3, you4) ó Movie time.

Objectives: 1) I can review my final exam results.  2) I can reflect on my Chinese learning.

Homework: Year-end reflection is due by the end of tonight.

Procedure:

  1. 1) Opening routine. Take one netbook, turn it on, and activate a browser.  Return your Ni Hao textbook.  Chen will contact you for summer assignment.  Anyone prefers to go to media center to study for your science and math next Tuesday and Wednesday?  Return and review PPT and kite-making project papers.  2) Return and review your final exam work.
  2. 1) Seat work: work on your year-end reflection. 2) Movie time, if time is available.

Objectives: I can showcase my mastery of reading proficiency and grammar sentence patterns.

Homework: Complete all retakes by the end of tomorrow.

Procedure:

  1. 1) Opening routine. Prepare to return textbook by the end of Friday.  Anyone will not be at school next week?
  2. 1) Final exam. 2) Claim your writing section only when you are done with today’s task.  3) Confirm with Ms. Chang that your kite did fly!  (3P: Alyssa, Camille, James, Mark, Serena / 8P: George, Devin).  (8P: Julia, Oliver) talk to Ms. Chang, please.

Revised bell schedule today.  Who has not taken a set of study guide?  Bring in your ear buds or headset Wednesday.  Anyone will not attend class on Friday or next week?  Turn in your kite-making reflection.  (3P: Luke, Jacob, Derrick, Ryan / Siena / Ryan, Camille, Alyssa, Serena, Zachary; 8P: Dylan, Julia, Claire, Parker, George, Oliver, Hailey, Michael) talk to Ms. Chang, please.

Procedure:

  1. 1) Return oral presentation draft #2. Draw a number for your oral presentation.  Anyone will not attend class on Friday?  2) Practice reading 10 sentences.

  3. 1) Introduce a website tool for typing pinyin and Chinese characters. 2) Video clip: Chinese martial arts (with weapons).

Objectives: 1) I can have fun flying a kite that I designed and made.  2) I can have fun playing Chinese yoyo and jian zi.

Homework: 1) Reflection on your kite-making project is due on Monday, 5/23/15.  2) PPT presentation starts on Monday, 5/23/16, and completes by the end of Tuesday, 5/24/16.

Procedure:

  1. 1) Daily greeting routine. Get a set of study guide / writing practice problems handout.  Turn in your PPT printout and checklist.  Return kite-making project checklist.  Claim your kite and tie a string handler to your kite.  Helpers are needed for Chinese yoyo.
  2. Clarification on two VCs (Table Etiquette / Mealtime Customs). Ask for copies of any culture reading article, if needed.

Objectives: 1) I can name colors in Chinese.  2) I can talk about myself in Chinese.  3) I can gain cultural knowledge about Chinese kites.
Homework: Quiz #2 (4 sibling terms + 11 colors): Monday, 5/23/16.
Procedure:

  1. 1) Quick review (8 colors). 2) Teach (hui se, cheng se, fen hong se).  3) Video clip: Colors song.  4) Pass out / go over food handout.  5) Teach terms (xi huan, chi).  6) Write sentences #7-#10.  Collect.
  2. 1) Video clip: kites. Showcase pictures of exemplary art project.

Homework: 1) PPT printout and checklist are due in class tomorrow.  2) Final exam oral section needs to be completed by the end of today.  3) We will fly kites and play Chinese yoyo / jianzi tomorrow.  3) PPT presentation starts from Monday, 5/23/16 and ends by the end of Tuesday.  4) 4 Culture reading VCs are due at the end of today.  5) 5 Lesson Twelve VCs are machine for leg muscle recovery by the end of Monday, 5/23/16.

Procedure:

  1. 1) (3P: Serena, Katie, Ryan, Dylan, Derrick, Siena, Suzie, Camille, Alyssa; 8P: Oliver, Mike, Greg, Claire, Hailey, Alex) report to Ms. Chang at 5P / 6P / after school today. 2) Clarification: Write in Chinese for Lesson Twelve Writing practice VC.  3) Check your e-mail for Final exam study guide.

  2. 1) Video clips: Chinese jian zi / Jian Zi stunt / Martial arts (barehanded or with weapons). 2) Showcase art project sample work (PPT) and videos.

Procedure:

  1. 1) Daily greeting routine. Return Lesson Eleven chapter test papers, character worksheet, and speed character recognition quiz papers.  Good news to share.  (Serena, Katie, Ryan, Derrick, Dylan) report to Ms. Chang at 6P for oral exam tomorrow.  Take a netbook, turn it on, activate a browser, and set aside.  All 9 VCs are open for access now.  Work at media center (3P: back lab; 8P: front lab) tomorrow.  Please consider to attend Asian Festival over this weekend (11 am – 7 pm).  Come to lunch today, if interested (quota for all items).  2) Showcase sample PPT work (Adam Jones, Alex Wong).
