Procedures for 9/21/17

MS 5P Chinese One Class (9/21/2017)

Objectives: I can prepare my Lesson Three chapter test through virtual classroom activities and online culture reading.

Homework: Complete 2 ProgressBook Virtual Classroom activities by the end of the class period.

Procedures:

  1. Please log into your ProgressBook account. Click Activities tab on the left-hand side of the screen to activate activities.  Submit them when you are done.  It is individual work.  Please do not discuss with your peers.
  2. Click the following two links, 1) https://www.echineselearning.com/blog/do-lucky-numbers-make-you-feel-lucky-part-1, 6 is More Than a Number in the Eyes of Chinese People (Lucky Number, Part I) and 2) https://www.echineselearning.com/blog/does-the-number-9-in-chinese-really-make-things-last-long-lucky-number-part, Does the Number 9 in Chinese Really Make Things Last Long? (Lucky Number, Part II) to read two articles about Chinese lucky numbers. Do not worry about those Chinese characters or sentences that you do not understand in the article.  Focus more on culture part (lucky numbers), please.
  3. Click this link, https://growthtotem.com/tips-learn-mandarin-chinese/ (5 Tips on How to Start Learning Mandarin Chinese, 9/11/2017), to read tips / advice from a non-native Mandarin Chinese learner.
  4. Click the link, http://quizlet.com/3629469/ni-hao-1-lesson-3-vocabulary-flash-cards/, to play a Quizlet vocabulary game and get yourself familiarized with the Lesson Three vocabulary.
  5. Pair work: 1) Say out loud various expressions on flash cards for speaking and listening fluency and comprehension. 2) Read text passages with math equations for reading comprehension.  Those flash cards are sitting on the chair in front of the SmartBoard.
  6. If you are interested, ask Ms. Boyne to give you an enrichment math puzzle worksheet. It does not count for grade, but will earn you candy if you get all blanks correct!  Thank you for overcoming the challenge!  It is an individual work.  No discussion is allowed.
