Regular Math Classes
The regular 5th grade math classes use Everyday Mathematics as their math program. The book for this program is a reference book for students and parents, rather than a book that your child will use in class on a regular basis. It may be kept at home so that if questions arise on how to do a math task, the book is available at homework time. Everyday Math also has an online component with games and helps that you can access from your home computer. Passwords for this will be sent home soon. Please keep it in a safe place, but contact me if you should misplace it.

Accelerated Math
The accelerted math class will be using the Holt Math Text, which has an online component at the following address:
The students can either access the online text or checkout a CD that contains the text. They will need a password, which will be sent home with each student.
Summer Reading Requirement
Every accelerated language arts student should have received a summer reading assignment. Our theme for language arts class this year is “Autobiographies”. Students will be studying about an author, learning about their life, their sources for ideas, and the books they have read. The summer reading assignment is to get the class started thinking about an author, in this case Zilpha Keatley Snyder.
