A big, happy welcome to the new school year!  I would especially like to welcome the newest Brecksville Bees:  the kindergartners! I am very busy getting our classroom ready and can't wait to meet you in a few weeks.  Be on the look-out for something "buzzing" your way in the mail really soon.

I now invite you to explore the website.  Remember that some parts still need to be updated to reflect this new school year.  I didn't have access this summer to do the updates. Pretty soon, the Photo Album will have lots of pictures of the new kinders so be sure to stop back.

Enjoy your last few weeks of vacation!

Before I head home for my long winter's nap (vacation), I just wanted to wish everyone a very Merry Christmas and a happy, healthy new year!  The kids are filled with so much excitement.  Over the past few weeks, we have discussed many holiday celebrations.  One common thread is "family."  May you enjoy this special time with your families (and friends).

The pictures from The Great Gingerbread Man Hunt and Polar Express Day are on the  Photos page.  ENJOY!!

See you in 2010!!

Guess who came to visit today???  Here's a clue: he's small, brown, runs really fast and smells delicious?  Yep, it was the Gingerbread Man!!!  He had us chasing after him all over the school.  Did we catch him??  You'll have to visit the Photo Album to find out.

Polar Express Day is on Tuesday, December 15.  Be sure your child gets his favorite pair of pj's ready for the big day.  I will post some pictures of the fun-filled day next week.

Please continue to enjoy the magic of the season!

P.S.  I have had many people ask how I created the Santa's Helper slide show!  While I would love to take credit for being incredibly clever, it was just a PhotoBucket slide show!  I hope you enjoyed it!

Holiday Greetings, Everyone!
The kindergartners can't wait for the flakes to start falling (again) and for Santa's arrival!

The "Pilgrims" and "Indians" had a wonderful time at our feast last week.  Stop by the Photo Album to check out the pictures!

Oh, and you just have to see "Santa's Helpers!!"  Visit the Photo Album and you'll get to meet them.  I think you'll really like think they are cute!

Over the next two weeks, we are reading many versions of the classic tale of the Gingerbread Man.  We will compare/contrast them and decide which book was our favorite.  He'll be stopping by sometime soon which will have us chasing his sweet-smelling trail.

Enjoy this special time of the year!

Chilly November Greetings! We are getting ready for Thanksgiving and working on our "Long Ago and Today" social studies unit.
Speaking of “long ago,” our 50th day of school is fast approaching and we’ll be joining our first grade buddies in Mrs. Cuy’s class for a “Fifties Day” next Wednesday, November 11! We’ll rock around the clock, have fun with some multi-level activities involving the number 50 and even make a drink that could have been served on the set of Happy Days!  We need to dress the part!Girls may want to dig up cardigans and skirts to wear; a pair of jeans (with the cuffs rolled up!) and a white tee shirt would suit the guys very well.  Don’t forget pigtails and hair gel!  Of course, bobby sox would complete the look for both!  Please don’t buy a thing – we just want to have fun and learn about the “good ol’ days.”  More information to follow... It’s sure to be a fun filled day!

On the Photos page, you'll find pictures from our PumpK1n Day and our Halloween party!  Enjoy!

I look forward to meeting with all of you soon for our parent-teacher conference.

Happy Halloween!  Well, not quite yet but the kids sure are getting excited!

We've sure been busy this month.  We have studied the five senses, farm life, pumpkins, apples, the seasons and fall!  It's been fun and the children continue to amaze me each day.  They are truly a delightful class and I am very blessed.

We had a VERY soggy, cold day at the farm last week.  However, the kids were real troopers.  They didn't complain (well, maybe once or twice) and still were able to see everything.  A HUGE thanks to all of our chaperones.  You were wonderful and I was lucky (and oh so thankful) to have you there.  The pictures are in the Photo Album so be sure to stop by and take a peek!

This week we also made a "sharecrow" and planted bulbs in the Hilton Habitat.  The birds and other wildlife will be very happy as our sharecrow provides them with food over the cold winter months.  We'll keep restocking him!  There are pictures in the photo album so you can see him come to life!

The pictures from Apple Day and our visit to the habitat are on the photo album.  There were a few glitches with the photo show but it's all fixed now.

Refresh button:  I wanted to remind you to always hit the "refresh" button (it looks something like the image pictured above) on your browser when you return to our website (on each page you visit).  Occasionally, updates don't show up unless you hit that button.

Enjoy the beautiful colors of the season!

September 15, 2009
September greetings! We are off to a FANTASTIC start to our year.  The children have done a great job learning all of the routines and procedures.  And I am loving teaching all day kindergarten!!!

Aren't their bee hats cute?  Leif's mom bought them for everyone.  They will be our "bee smart" hats.

The website is all updated for this school year so you'll want to check out the different pages.  On the Photos page, you will get to meet the class and see some fun pictures from our first few weeks together.

I hope your child loves coming to school!

Enjoy the sunshine, fall will be here far too soon,
Michelle Gagné
