We’ve gotten our iPads and in preparation for them and to continuing growing with them, I plan to read some of the information surrounding the success of using iPads with students with special needs AND regular education students.
Below is a list of my planned reading on the iPad. Feel free to send more my way via firstname.lastname@example.org or on twitter @Room5Friends.

Check out this video on YouTube called A Vision of K-12 Students Today (approx. 4 min. long).
Note: If you are in the BBHCSD, you will likely not be able to open this. You can go to http://idesktop.tv and search this video by title. You can watch or save as a .flv and insert into your SMART Notebook as a “flash video.”
With the help of a BBH Technology Grant, a generous donation, the special education department, and money to recover what we lost in the water damage in late winter 2009, Room 5 has lots of new additions!
Along with the Martha Holden Jennings Grant and the BBH Foundation Grant that we received in 2008, we also received a 2009 BBH Technology Grant. The grant was written for four new Dell desktop computers, and we were accepted! The computers are up and running and ready for little fingers!
We also received a generous donation from a community member that enabled us to purchase a new carpet for our group/reading area. The carpet is beautiful and can be used for graphing, color recognition, shape recognition, letter recognition, visual discrimination, and organization!
Lastly, by request from the computer specialist at the County Board of Developmental Disabilities, we were able to obtain 3 new “Magic Touch” touch screens. One will be available in Room 5, one will be accessed in the computer lab, and one may be used on a laptop.
Lastly, with funds from the “water damage” late last winter, we were able to receive five new bean bag chairs to replace the five we lost.
