Thank you for all of your help and generosity! The boxes will be taken to East Cleveland this week. Mrs. Lambacher from Central School will do the transporting. She came on Monday to get the boxes but had to come back with a bigger vehicle!

I have added a new category to the blog. It’s called “Teacher’s Monthly Newsletter”. When you click on it, you will see the new November Chalk Talk. Future editions will be posted here also. You will also receive a paper copy once a month.

More interviews were added to the category called “Interviews”. There are only three more interviews that need to be typed and posted.

Thank you for all of your generous Donation Box donations. The items brought in were creative, lovely and generous. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts!

There is a cute turkey story in the blogroll section of the frong page. Younger siblings would enjoy this story as well.

Scarecrow on Display

On Tuesday afternoon, Mr. Jagielo will be pounding our scarecrow pole into the ground. Our Crowbot will be on display at Halloween on the Heights on Saturday and Sunday (Oct. 17-18). Mrs. Jagielo’s Beach themed scarecrow and surfboard will also be on display. Many thanks go to Jack’s mom, Mrs. Craciun, for helping us waterproof the scarecrow.

Scholastic book orders are due oct. 21st. You can now go online and order books or send in a check and order form to school. The Scholastic username is mrslant . And the password is NewBooks . Marianne Jones is coordinating the book orders each month. Thanks for your help.

The States Play was performed today in class. Mrs. Boczulak’s class came over to watch it. We had a microphone set up for the students to use. Each students recited one or two verses of a 50 verse play. We were proud of the students!

The Apple Head project has made a turn for the worse. Sometimes, great ideas don’t yield great results. After waiting for the heads to dehydrate, we have noticed some mold growing. Although we soaked them in lemon water with salt, the heads are looking quite scary. We will probably have to throw them away. But we will use this as a lesson in the scientific method. I’ll save the plastic bottles for future use.

Planet reports are on our blog!

All planet reports are now posted on this blog. Just look under the Research category on the right side of this page. Students have begun a new unit. We are now learning about people and places in Social Studies. We started by creating murals. Some murals are about suburbs, urban areas, and rural areas.

Next week in Language Arts, we will be reading many short stories. We will be working on reading comprehension, compound words, and context clues. I will unveil next week’s featured author on Monday.

On Friday, we will be having a class store. A few parents have sent in donations. Thank you! If you come across any toys or trinkets at home that you’d like to donate, please do.

The students have been earning class money for various things. Some examples include: quickly taking out your books, working quietly, making good use of your time, helping to clean up our room and more.

Fall Festival was a huge success. It was so nice to see many of you! Justin earned the lunch with the teacher at the auction. He invited Jasper to join him. Today, we had our pizza lunch with cupcakes. Thanks for bidding!

Thanks to all of you for buying tons of raffles tickets and t-shirts. All of the contributions will be used wisely by the PSO. If you haven’t joined yet, please do! Every dollar counts!

I will be posting the students’ wonderful planet reports. The children researched a planet, took notes, wrote a rough draft and typed a final copy. Outstanding! They will be posted on the Research link to the right.
