I don't agree with the 98/ME comparison to XP/Vista. ME was a joke. Vista has some real "under the hood" improvements over XP. The search-able Start button is also the "killer app" for the OS. I have used Vista on my main desktop and laptop for more than a year. I cringe when I am forced to use XP (on campus) because it seems so inefficient. If you have older hardware, Vista is slow. But any dual-processor machine with 2 GB of RAM is fine. It should be easy to see why so many schools have not made the switch.

I too did not post as many times on my blog in 2008. I did point many more people to my old posts. My blog is the "permanent archive of answers" that I reference over and over. Instead of explaining for the 100th time, I provide a link. Now the question starts with "I searched your blog but couldn't find an answer, how do I do this?" I plan to post more in 2009. We will see if that actually happens.

I enjoyed this look forward and also your post looking back.

Vista - I ended up having to install it due to multiple BSODs after installing XP SP3 (it hosed all of my USB ports). Anyway, Vista is OK (kind of like the stickers they would put on used cars in the 50s and early 60s). Vista is a little pokey, but I have found that is crashes less often. However I do have issues with some of my Adobe web stuff and especially with Video editing software. I can't afford multiple powerful PCs, and I know my problem is that Windows has never been able to handle lots of software on a mchine. Microaoft needs to do something radical and make a lean, powerful OS. Not going to happen.

Blogging - Guilty as charged, and I'm not sure why. Almost everyday I think of posts to do, but I don't take the time I did in the past to sit down and and try to post something coherent and mildly interesting. I've also noticed that I don't read as amny blogs as I did a year ago.

AS for blog organization, I think that although blogs may appear unorganized, I don;t think ti matters to regular blog readers, becuase the interface and navigation is so similar across the board, and of course they are searchable. I do agree that community sites for photo and video are coming o on strong. In the past year, I've found this to be true on V imeo, and to a lesser extent on flickr.
