Wordpress LogoBy request, here’s the current version of my Wordpress Getting Started Guide. It’s specifically aimed at staff members in the Brecksville-Broadview Heights schools, but others may find it useful as well.

This document covers Wordpress 2.1, sidebar widgets, and all of the plugins we have installed. It was last revised March 1, 2007.

Getting Started With Wordpress

Friday, September 1st, 2006

Wordpress LogoI finally finished updating the Wordpress Getting Started Guide for Brecksville-Broadview Heights teachers. We upgraded to Wordpress 2 this summer, and the new guide will help teachers set up blogs and get started with the program.

Despite a couple recent requests for copies of Frontpage, I still think blogs are the way to go for teacher web sites. They’re fast, relatively trouble-free, and easy to manage and update. By using a blog instead of Frontpage, Dreamweaver, or some other tool, the teacher can focus on teaching kids instead of focusing on becoming a web designer.

Anyway, here’s the file: Wordpress Getting Started Guide
