1. There were 24 students in the classroom. 6 students went to recess. 4 students went to the gym. 9 students left for the day. How many students were left and how did you get this answer?
2. 9 groups of 8 students played outside. What does 9 groups of 8 mean? Please explain.
3. If it is a quarter till nine- what time is it? Please explain your answer.
4. Mr. Wasil went to sleep 2 hours and 15 minutes after the 7:00 news. What time did he go to bed. He then woke up at 5:00 in the morning. How much total sleep did he get?

Directions: Rewrite the paragraph replacing every “good” with a better adjective. You may not repeat a word.
I woke up this morning after a good night’s sleep. I felt good. The birds were chirping a good tune outside my window. I could tell it was going to be a good day. I got dressed and wore a good pair of pants and a good shirt. My shoes felt good on my feet. I dashed down to breakfast because I was really hungry. Mom’s breakfast smelled good. We had bacon and eggs, English muffins, juice and milk, a really good breakfast. Feeling good, I grabbed my books and went to school. Mom said as I left, “Have a good day!”.
