In Reading Language Arts we will be reading a story called Why Mosquitoes Buzz in People’s Ears on pages 62-85. The skills we will be concentrating on are reading guided comprehension, vocabulary, spelling words with /ur/ sound, summarizing, figurative language, making inferences, adjectives for how many and writing effective sentences. On Thursday we will be taking our End of Selection Test. This is a vocabulary test along with reading comprehension from the story. The vocabulary words are listed on the spelling sheet and the students should study those throughout the week. Our spelling test will be on Friday. BOOK REPORTS FOR MARCH ARE DUE BY FRIDAY, APRIL 4TH!!!
In Math we will be concentrating on 7.7- estimating costs, 7.8- extended facts: products of ten, 7.9- explorations: exploring ratios and geometric figures, 7.10- Unit 7 Review and Assessment. Test over this unit will be on Friday. The students will complete a review guide Thursday night. This will be a good indicator for the test on Friday. Also, on Friday we will begin taking the 100 facts multiplication tests. The students have 10 to 15 minutes to complete this test with 90% – 100 % accuracy. Please use the sheets I sent home prior to Spring Break for practice.
In Science we will be learning about metamorphosis and the life cycle of a frog. We will also be setting up an aquarium to observe tadpoles and how they change over the next 9 weeks of school.
Miscellaneous- 9 weeks of school left. The 4th quarter begins today (Monday, March 31st). Report cards come home Friday, April 4th. I have a professional conference on Tuesday the 1st. A substitute will be here for the day. Monday, April 28th and Tuesday, April 29th will be the Reading Ach. and Math Ach. Test. We will be reviewing and studying for these on a daily basis. Remember to check the state website http://portal.success-ode-state-oh-us.info/ to practice and review at home.

Monday, March 31st - Spelling- page 68 Math- 7.7 math boxes. Reading- book reports due by Friday.

Wednesday, April 2nd –Reading- study vocabulary words for tomorrow’s vocabulary test and make sure reading book comes back by tomorrow for end of selection test. Library books due tomorrow. Math- math boxes 7.9 and Science RS 25-26.
Thursday, April 3rd - Spelling- study for tomorrow’s test. Math- look over review guide completed in class today for test tomorrow and study 0-9 facts for tomorrow’s test.
Friday, April 4th –Book Reports Due Today
In Reading Language Arts We will be reading a story called Coyote Places the Stars on pages 38-51. The skills we will be concentrating on are reading guided comprehension, vocabulary, spelling words that sound the same but have different meanings, comparing and contrasting, summarizing, figurative language, sequencing, adjectives of what kind, homophones and writing a paragraph that contrasts. On Thursday we will be taking our End of Selection Test. This is a vocabulary test along with reading comprehension from the story. The vocabulary words are listed on the spelling sheet and the students should study those throughout the week. Our spelling test will be on Friday. NEW BOOK REPORTS FOR MARCH ARE DUE BY FRIDAY, APRIL 4TH!!!
In Math we will be concentrating on sections 7.1- patterns and products, 7.2- multiplication facts survey, 7.3- fact power, 7.4- number models with parentheses and 7.5- scoring in basketball activity. We will be concentrating on the factor of 12 all week and reviewing the factors of 0-11. On Friday, we will take our timed test over the factor of 12. The students have 5 to 6 minutes to complete this test with 100% accuracy. If they miss one or more, they will take it again on Monday.
In Science we wrap up our Motion and Force unit and begin a new unit on the Life Cycles of Animals. The students will complete a review sheet on Tuesday and take the test on Thursday. Last week we completed a two-sided review sheet that will be a good study resource for this test.
Miscellaneous- Spring Break starts next Thursday the 20th. We have school on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday. Teachers have an in-service day on the 20th and then their breaks starts Friday the 21st. School Resumes on Monday, March 31st. Scholastic book orders due by Friday if ordering.

Math page 297 and Science study for test.Thursday, March 13th - Spelling- study for tomorrow’s test. Math- study 12’s for tomorrow’s test. Scholastic due if ordering.
Friday, March 14th – Work on Book reports…

The skills we will be concentrating on are reading guided comprehension, vocabulary, spelling words with /ôr/, summarization, figurative language, prefixes and suffixes, adjectives and writing a paragraph that compares. On Wednesday we will be taking our End of Selection Test. This is a vocabulary test along with reading comprehension from the story. The vocabulary words are listed on the spelling sheet and the students should study those throughout the week. Our spelling test will be on Thursday. Book reports are due by Friday. The March book report will be due by Friday, April 4th.
In Math – we will wrap up our unit on Geometry and test over it on Wednesday. On Thursday, we will begin a new unit on multiplication and division. Miscellaneous- We will have our 2nd Read-A-Thon day on Friday, March 7th. Click here for details. The movie we will be watching is based on Sandra Phillipson, an author that will be visiting our school on March 17th. This movie portrays her real life dogs and the experiences they face in real life.
